because of shafiul we won.... he shud be given more credit-- shafiul made 24 runs off 24 balls and mahmudullah got 21 runs off 42 balls Mahmudullah nearly costed us the match.
And I thought mahmuudullah was supposed to bat like a top order batsmen. Well... he was lucky shafiul saved him otherwise loads of people would be bashing mahmudullah.... Shafiul played much better. I remember Mahmudullah edging a ball which just fell short to the wicket keeper.
When mahmudullah came out to bat i was really angry, it was like he wanted the team to lose. I mean he had no intention to try and hit a boundary. Instead he was defending and the reqired run rate was creeping up to seven and a half. But shafiul then the next over scored i think a four and a six to mantain the required run rate.
I remember mullah doin this before in previous matches, where it looked like all he cared about was his average.
-Please don't get angry at me, I am extremely happy that Bangladesh won, but just saying that mahmudullah didn't actually play that well

^^ Can't blame Riyad today. He played based on the situation he arrived at. I'm not endorsing Riyad but he played his role today.

Anyone think he's not getting these awards because the 'powers that be' think his lack of english would mean an awkward interview at the presentation?
Why can't the players be given a translator for these interviews so we can find out what they really think rather than some tired and trained cliches being delivered because of limitations in a foreign language???

Shafiul got 4-21 Against Ireland and deserved the MOM and vs England 1-43 and a 24 run cameo without him we would have lost

Apparently, whoever selects the MOM has to give the name to ICC at least "X" numbers of overs before the game finishes. Thats what Ian Botham mentioned at the beginning of today's game. He wanted Shafiul to have the MOM vs Ireland.

Why does he bat below Razzak, who's not much better than Rubel? I've always thought that he's a good boundary hitter, he's got the ability to make partnerships and frustrate a tiring bowling attack. It's important that he keeps on working on his bowling, as that's the more important thing. We shouldn't expect too much or become dependent on him because he's not going to play like that in every game. At least we know that if it comes down to him, we still have a chance.

okay folks....I created the thread in a non-serious tone. I am sure there is no conspiracy to not to give him MoM either because of language barrier or anything else. It has more to do with orthodox mental frame where not necessarily the man who wins the game is the Man of the Match rather, for instance, the one who makes the meat or the bulk of the runs in an innings such as was in this case. Sometimes bowler got MoM just because of tight spell without taking wickets or scoring runs. Read Cameron Cuffy.
So it was a fair decision at the end.

Because of Shafiul, we won against Ireland and because of Shafiul, we won against England. Other players in BD team should learn from him how to become courageous.

He has to take 10 wickets, score a hundred, take 5 catches, get 3 run outs, and hit 6 sixes in an over

Some corporate sponsor from BD needs to stand up and declare a 'man-of-the-series' (!) for world cup and hand it over to Shafiul!!!

Shafiul Islam was my man of the match. I thought Shafiul deserved it, he was the match winner at the end, he came in Bd were in losing position, some the people in crowd started leaving early. shafiul came in blasted bounderies with easy when Bangladesh were under so much preasure, hit a very good run-a ball innings and won the game for Bangladesh. well done shafiul.

Shafiul will get a five wicket haul to seal his name in the history . He already has the best WC bowling figure for a BD bowler.
