Default T20 2nd Round Schedule for BD

The match on Saturday is pointless, no matter who wins, we are ranked A2.

Sept 16 vs Australia or Zumbabwe (B1) at 16:00 GMT or 12:00 EST or 22:00 BDT
Sept 18 vs Sri Lanka (C1) at 8:00 GMT or 4:00 EST or 14:00 BDT
Sept 20 vs Pakistan (B1) at 8:00 GMT or 4:00 EST or 14:00 BDT

The wins from first round does not count.

Correct.

This is the official rule...

Quote:
The first two teams in each group are placed 1 or 2. They will retain this position for the Super Eights stage, irrespective of whether they finish first or second in their group, unless they are knocked out by team in their group. In this instance, team 3 replaces the position of the team they knocked out.

Interesting rule. If we can beat SA, we should be A1.

I was afraid that India may again end up in a group similar to that in the World Cup New Zealand, England and South Africa is definitely the better option.

Btw, this rule looks silly. In the World Cup, it did not matter because everyone played everyone in the Super-8. Here the placing in the first round should have given some importance.

If the rule is given, why would it be either Australia or Zimbabwe? Or are both of them fighting for a place in the 2nd round?

Coz England is ranked the 2nd place in that group. Australia or Zimbabwe, who ever goes through, will be number one. If England is out, Zumbabwe becomes number 2 in that group.

So no matter what happens in that group, we are playing Australia or Zimbabwe.

Lets hope England beats Australia and Kenya beats SL. Our probability of making the SF sky-rockets if we have Zim/Kenya/Pak in our group. Aus/Pak/SL would be extremely difficult. Paks bowling and batting are awesome for 20-20 format.

the great ones(a true champion) can defeat anybody, so i am not praying for anyone else to win or lose, to become the great we have to overcome fear of "tough oppositions".

i do not want anybody to say such and such team won the WC due to a "fluke", no...

i hope Bangladesh faces the toughest opposition to face in this tournament(and we are victorious, off course), so inshallah we can carry on this momentum to the next level and get rid of the bitter, pathetic term "Minnow"

The fact of the matter is, we are far from great and need decades of development before show any sign of greatness. At this point we need some luck. We already have the schedule tilted against us where we are grouped with Aus/SL/Pak regardless of our first round performance.

Face the reality. Our probability of winning the WC this year is close to zero. Check any betting site. If we win it we have to beat some top level teams whether Aus/SL make it or not. You don't have to worry about being teased as a "fluke winner".

At 20-20 level, we are capable of beating any team any day because its like winning one or two sessions. Even Akram's team have won one or two sessions sometimes. There is no reason to call us minnow in 20-20. I would take my chances on an easier schedule. We are not ready to overcome too many obstacles at this point.

RSA. or NZ...they plays bad against team like ZIm n Ireland..bla bla ...i DONO which one 2 go 4

funniest comment heard all day!!!! but no, we still need to work hard and settle down, we still have weaknesses which have improved inshallah over the last couple of months, but we still need to work on other stuff, like building a solid team chemistry.

i would take this comment to be effective as soon as we start showing dangerous signs of competitive consistency in ODI, and maybe Test.

BD - May be Group A champ if we can win against SA.
Aus - Group B champ.
SL - Group C champ if they beat NZ tomorrow.
Pak - Group D champ if they win against Ind today.

What a shoddy way of setting up a tournament. Potentially all group champs being in one group and knocking off two good teams in the second round? What type of logic justifies these type of format?? Or does the organizing committee has no insightfulness. Do they ever play out any type of simulation where they can see what may happen? Better yet do they have some hidden agenda? I have some choice words for the "uddokta".
