Default Will Bagh Mama Survive

D-day for Rafiqul

The Rafiqul Alam-led national selection committee will be on tenterhooks today as a meeting of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) directors will decide their future.

details

-------------

I wish we have a completely new set of selectors working with the new coach. But I am afraid 'toilakto' bagh Mama will survive again.

I don't think there's anyone who can do a better job though; and I say this without offering Bagh Mama the slightest bit of credit. Most of our ex-players are stuck in the old fashioned sissy mentality of persisting with one time wonders and full toss blockers. I don't see anyone who wouldn't give Raqibul or Ashraful a life long free pass unless coerced not to.

Like the players, it will take an entirely new generation of selectors for us to start picking the right people for our various squads.

How about HB? Does he have an eye for spotting talent? I bet KMs are better.

Oh KM's knack for spotting "talent" is no doubt better than most "playa"s who have donned a Tiger uniform!

Our selectors are handicapped by Board of Directors. Selectors only sign their names on players selection sheet. Unless they are given proper power and freedom, nothing will change. Ashraful, Raqibul, Naeem will keep popping up every now and then we will keep blaming our selectors.

I think both HaBa and Pilot have the potential to be good selectors simply because they attend local matches, and are far less susceptible to lobbying.

2 of Bashar, Pilot, Nannu and Durjoy will join Akram khan today. Akram Khan will replace Rafiqul Alam as chief.

CI report !

Quote:
Bangladesh selectors' contracts not renewed

The Bangladesh selectors' contracts, which expire on April 30, will not be renewed the Bangladesh Cricket Board has said. The three-man committee is headed by Rafiqul Alam and includes former captain Akram Khan and Zahid Razzak.

The decision comes as part of a revamp of the Bangladesh cricket setup, after a disappointing World Cup performance. Coach Jamie Siddons departed earlier this month, after Bangladesh succumbed 3-0 to Australia at home, while a host of support staff are either leaving or under review. While bowling coach Ian Pont has already parted ways with Bangladesh cricket, strength and conditioning coach Grant Trafford Luden will stay on for another year and the future of fielding coach Julien Fountain and physio Michael Henry is as yet unclear.

The BCB has also decided to initiate legal proceedings against Nimbus Sports International, to recover outstanding dues in connection with television broadcast rights.

I think KMP is ineligible because he is still playing DPL. That rules out Rafique as well. Don't think KMS will accept the role since he has gone into coaching and even if he became selector he would be at loggerheads with Shakib so BCB would probably avoid that. That leaves Bashar as the only high-profile candidate.

Bashar will probably not be picked for his infamous ICL saga.

I would pick KM instead of Zahid Razzak (who is he btw)?

Also there might be a chance that soon we will see another Iqbal Khan in the nat team if Akram becomes the chef....his name is Faysal Iqbal Khan...Tamim's brother/Cousin (still not sure)
