Technical Question
On every Cricket match there is a Man of Match award.
What would the name of the award be in a Women cricket match? We need to make sure everyone knows about this.
Very recently Bhola became the Champs in Women One Day Domestic Cricket beating Khulna. Chamili of Bhola was the most economical bowler and highest run getter for Bhola (47 not out) and was adjudged Man of the Match. Man of the match?

Man also mean person or human being without reference to the human race/sex.

i agree with T_E... it doesnt look nice for women. it should be "player of the match award" which doesnt have any sex and will be suitable for them..

No, that's a wrong conception. At least, from a feminist perspective. That's preceisely the reason why many people say "humankind" rather than "mankind".
The reason "man" is used to refer to both person or human being is because of the male-dominated society we're in.
I've noticed in many places they've started using "player of the match" rather than "man of the match". I think cricket is yet to adopt that, and will hopefully do that soon.

why don't we survey randomly choose 100 women cricketers around the globe to see if they objectify to this "man of the match" title. but then again, it will cost a lot of money and time and effort to do that, so we shall wait for the protest from the American feminist society. until then good bye.

you are absolutely correct. this issue was the originator of the androcentric fallacy argument.
i have noted that american sports tend to have less gender related terms and 'player of the match' or 'player of the tournament' is more common than man of the match.

Dare I suggest "Player of the Match" or POM as a suitable alternative? Just add "Spotted Dick" and "Steak and Kidney Pie" to the awards ...

the misconception comes because মানুষ is considered the synonym of man.
that is not entirely true. By definition মানুষ is a common gender but man is a masculine gender.
so the true synonym should have been human. so, I agree, the award should be 'woman of the match' or better yet, rename it to 'player of the match' so it applies to both.

"Player of the Match" sounds good as an alternative.
