Final Eleven of the 1st Test
I Have heard this from Channel I .
The final squad for the 1st Test would be Like this:
Hannan Sarker
Shahriar Hossain
Habibul Bashar
Ashraful
Rajin Saleh
Khaled Masud
Manjarul Rana
Rafique
Mushfiq
Tapash Baisya
Manjurul Islam
I surprised not to see Tareq Aziz in the team. He deserved it .

yeah... either alamgir Kabir or Tareq Aziz shud have been there instead of Manjurul Islam... both of them deserved the place... hopefully in the 2nd test... otherwise this is a really good team... the best one we can field right now...

Well, considering the last record of Manjurul in Zimbabue, I dont see anything wrong in giving him a chance to repeat his 6 wicket haul. If he sucks, Tarek can get his chance in the second test.
I like this team.

But the thing is when a player performs in the tour pratice matches they expect to get into the first team... and when they dont, it automatcally causes some psychological effect. In this case its a bowler that is already under-performing that gets in the team instead of 2 bowlers that showed that they are capable of bowling well...
I know what i am saying makes the thing sound a lot more severe than the actual situation... but still good performances shud be rewarded...

Manjurul did pretty well against the games against Namibia. Another fact is that, both Tareq and Alamgir achieved there best bowling in that match. Isnt it more of the Pitch? Could any team reach 200? Dont you think that monjurul could do the same on that pitch too?

just to make it clear I have nothing against monjurul playing the test match... my point was if Alamgir and Tareq performed well (which they did) they shud have been rewarded... atleast one of them... preferrably tareq...

The only surprise is manju's inclusion knowing Whatmore doesn't like him much. So there must be a good reason. Kabir and Tareq Aziz are both ordinary bowlers who got lucky in Harare, although it was tempting to put one in the Test match. One of them could have played for Mushfiq, but our batting is too unpredictable otherwise. I like the batting lineup, this team looks pretty solid.

Now we finally have the Manjarul - Monjurul naming problem! Text commentary will be chaos from here on out. Bring it on!

I actually like monju in one dayers because he will give very little away in 10 overs. His problem is he does not take wickets, and how can he when every delivery is an outswinger pitched outside the offstump? Manju needs a new bag of tricks, and hopefully in his time away from the national team he had been working hard.

I don't like Monju that much either. But the guy did take 6 wickets with those outswingers. I have faith in Whatmore's judgement. Lets hope for the best.

Great Line UP!
I think it is a decent line up for the first test match. Most of this final eleven have good experience in the test arena. They won’t be intimated by Zimbabwean player since BD performed exceptionally well against last three tough opponent. (Australia, Pakistan, and England).

I\'ll be the devil\'s advocate
as I seem to find myself being quite a lot these days, and say that I don't like this team much.
Actually, its not that bad, I just don't like having Monju in it. Monju, Mushfiq and Tapash makes it a pretty ordinary pace attack. Too slow and defensive in my opinion. We should definitely have had Aziz. Just because Monju got 6 wickets three years back doesn't mean he should be in this team. Especially after Aziz took 9 wickets against Zimb A. I just get the feeling that we aren't really trying to win.
Having said that, if Monju does do a repeat performance, I'll be the first to jump on the Monju bandwagon. I have no shame!

final eleven for first Zim Test
I like the makeup of the team, from a batting stand point. But without Mashrafee can we expect to take 20 wickets in a match? He is our best pace man...i think tareq should have gotten the nod regardless of what monju did in the past. they could have kept him in along with monju if they really wanted to.
If rajin does not get at least one century in his 4 test innings i will be dissapointed. but if he has a solid time at the crease then i guess its ok.
Any other american born and raised bangalis here?

Al Furqaan-
Welcome to the board. Hope you are here to stay. Actually there is a thread right near the top of the message board (Forget Cricket) called "Introduce Yourself". You can learn about our members there. Also It would be great if you could pen down a few words about yourself in that particular thread.
Enjoy your stay!!!
