i cant understand this indian obsession with foreign coaches
this thread is related to india
i cant understand y this obsession with foreign coaches. 1st whatmore, then ford & emburey and in all this no indian coach name like kapil dev or sandeep patil is being discussed. there r many former cricketers and current cricketers like ganguly who will make a good coach. its time v look in our land and select a coach. many indian coaches have done a good job coaching asian non-test teams under acc and coaching ranji teams. so v must try and get 1 of those indian coaches to coach india

I believe if india ever gave the money and power it gave to Chappel to any local coach,it could have done better. On the other hand,on this Indian board,A white goat carries much more value than a brown elephant.

Except BD cause we don't have any cricketing culture yet. It is growing and in 10 years would apply to us too.
As for India's coaching Job, Shastri is too busy, Gavaskar don't want it, Kapil wouldn't take it, Wouldn't give it to Azaharudin, wouldn't pay Patil, Amarnath. Promoting from local coaching ranks is unthinkable althought that is how it should be right now.

I dont think we need a coach at all, just specialist positions like what robin and Venky is doing is just fine. We need a Manager , a Motivator who can point out the mistakes in the field and do some pep talks to charge up the boys when we are down. i would prefer a low profile person who talks less with the media and more with the boys and can mix with them. dont care if its an indian or foreigner.probably bd needs a coach because they are still inexperienced but not for India!

Gavaskar was also dissapointed with the media attention surrounding Emburey and Ford. I think a lot of the old players want respect.

If you take an item from abroad to BD(even though that item already exists in BD) and give that to someone as a present, he/she will value it more. Aside from its being a present, its the fact that it's bideshi ponno.
grasses are greener on the other side, always. Especially for us asians.

Most of the former Indian players would demand instant respect from the fans are supporters. Men like Chappel, Whatmore or for that matter Emburey doesn't require anything more than their pay packet. They are happy to turn up on time, motivate the team, keep out of politics and go back to their hotel rooms at the end of the day. Thats what good coaching is all about.

well, the reason Chappel fared so badly is because he wanted that respect and power.I believe you can exclude him here. And any international coach with some self esteem will demand some respect from the team, its the perception of respect that varies between cultures.
