Default West Indies vs. Australia

I'm surprised this is the first thread about it, as the West Indies could have thrashed Australia if the rain didn't intervene.

West Indies made 9/264 with Wavell Hinds top scoring with 107 off 138 balls. Plus there were two bad umpiring decisions including one extremely horrible one involving Lara.

Australia were set 195 runs from 28 overs, with all Duckworth-Lewis calculations, and were 5/43 (not joking) when play could no longer continue.

Full details here

I'm sorry that the Windies had such a bad time in this city

Why do Lara and Tendul always get horrible decisions in OZ? It's like a given.

West Indies would have won this match. Why does rain have to save a team like Australia! So unfair!

Pakistan also benefitted from this washout. Pakistan also traditionally have benefitted from rain in Australia.

I remember Pakistan was on the verge of elimination in the 1992 world cup when they were saved by the rain in their match against England. Pakistan were bowled out for 58 and England were on course for an easy victory in the round robin match. The rain saved Pakistan who, instead of being eliminated, went on to win the tournament.
