Default Zia quits after row over son

Pakistan Cricket Board chief Lieutenant General Tauqir Zia resigned on Monday, saying that a controversy over his son's selection had contributed to his decision.

Zia, a 57-year-old retired army general, said he was confident his son would be able to win a place in the team without accusations of nepotism following his resignation.

Zia, in charge since November 1999, said he had recommended chief executive Ramiz Raja as his successor.

Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Lt. General Tauqir Zia announces his resignation in Lahore December 1, 2003. Zia told reporters his resignation had been accepted by the chief patron of the board, Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf. "Yes I have resigned, because I think four years is a long period and I have other things to do in life," Zia said. REUTERS/Mohsin Raza

What a silly reason to quit on. Now he will learn the hard way, that his son was after all not qualified to play for the national team and only him being the Cheif gave Zunaid the edge.

How naive can you be!

When is Khaled Mahmood Sujon stepping down as captain to show all us non-believers that he can make the team on his own, he doesn't have to hide behind the captaincy.

(*wink* HOPE and PRAY)
