Year Ending Statistics
Since Cricinfo only has statistics up for all the players like 2006 Calendar Year Test Bowling - Most Wickets and not by a team by team basis I thought it would be intesting to see how our players performed if we lined them up side by Side. I was more than surprised to see that Bashar had an ODI average of 30 for 2006 and Ashraful had an ODI average of 25 for 2006 because it seemed like they both played as if their averages should of been below 20. Hell even Pilot had an ODI average of 25. Aftab had an awesome year with the bat scoring 8 50's and look at his Strike Rate! We all know about how SN did for the year.
By now everybody knows about Mashrafe and Razzak But we had 3 players take a 5-for in ODI which was a relief because Aftab was holding the record as the only BD bowler to take 5-fer and In my opinion Rasel's 2/28 was the best innings of the year.
Plus we finally have our first true all-rounder in Sakib, ODI batting average of 45 with a bowling average of 24
Even though we only played 4 tests this year I thought he made the most out of all the matches. I mean you can't say we played Bad competitiion and we had a good chance to win 2 of the 4 tests and the Stats came out pretty nice. Rafique almost had a 10 wicket haul vs Ausralia, Rajib was Clearly the best fast bowler in the tests vs Sri Lanka ( yes even better than Vass and Malinga). Ashraful had his moment vs Sri Lanka and SN, Bashar and Rajin were pretty consistient with the bat. I hope the selectors remember this(during the Tests vs India to play Rajin as a middle order batsmen).
Plus Enamul proved he is the Future not Razzak with good perfromances vs Sri lanka and Australia. When you deliever the wonder ball he did in his first over vs Australia you know he's special.
Statistcally speaking I thought the Batting form top to bottom was consistient and the bowling too, with a few Standouts namely SN, Razzak, Mash and Sakib.

Nice Cricman. Could you please also make the same chart for ODIs only excluding the matches against the minnows (no Zim, Ken and Sco). We played total 8 matches against the big bros this year. Let us be realisitic and see who was the best this year against the big guns.

Good work Cricman...
Funny to see that in test matches, Rafiq has made more runs, with a better average and striking rate than our Ashraful... and given that he comes to bat at no 7 or 8 with having tailenders at his partners, thats even more amazing...

Excellent Stat summary. I highly doubt the selectors are aware of this. Because some of their actions dont make sense. They should frame and mount such chart in their living room.

its disheartening too look at the test bowling stats. no wonder we lose so bad in tests. test batting was surprisingly good however...5 players averaged over 30.
i wouldnt pay much mind to the ODI stats. they are fattened up because of substandard opposition.

I would rather phrase it as -
A bowler who can strike with bat a lot.
