Champions Trophy 2008 ---- NO BANGLADESH
champions Trophy 2008
India, Australia and Pakistan drawn together
Cricinfo staff
March 13, 2008
The groups for this September's Champions Trophy in Pakistan have been announced by the ICC, and India, Pakistan and Australia have been seeded together.
Group A comprises of defending champion and top seed Australia along with India, Pakistan and the West Indies while Group B is made up of the winner of the inaugural event, South Africa, as well as New Zealand, Sri Lanka and England. The groupings were made on the basis of teams' rankings in the ICC ODI Championship table on March 12, the agreed cut-off date.
It was decided in 2005 that from 2008 the tournament would only include the top eight one-day sides exactly six months before the start of the tournament. As a result, Bangladesh, Ireland and Zimbabwe, who hold the last three places in the table, miss out.
The two groups will be played on a round-robin format with the top two sides progressing to the semi-finals. The full tournament schedule and information regarding venues will be announced by the ICC in due course.
Group A Australia (1), India (4), Pakistan (5), West Indies (8)
Group B South Africa (2), New Zealand (3), Sri Lanka (6), England (7)
so no bangladesh .......................

Enough of the free ride.
Lets earn it next time.
we cant even score 200 in either forms of the game, how would you expect them to include us into everything.
Champions trophy meant to be for the "champions".
we are chumps, not champs.

Truth hurts, but it can also make us better Inshallah.

there is nothing wrong in this. this was decided in 2005 itself & bangladesh had enough time to get into the top 8 in this time. as of now, matches played before august 2005 dont even count in the icc rankings, so in the last 2.5 years, if bangladesh had won some more matches, the situation could have been different. and by the time 2010 champions trophy comes, bangladesh should be there as bd will be a top 8 team by 2010. and stop blaming india for everything

...and it was decided back in 2005.
So, stop blaming India for everything.

In case of such security situation, the whole Champ trophy may be pulled out of Pak and Ind will be ready to take it. I don't think the tournament will be held without Aus.

Why am I not surprised.
Anyway, I hate the complaining nature of a few people. BD team isn't performing...and personally I feel that they will have to make a very strong case if they want to be considered for any other tourney of this sort.

I wont complain about this. If the rule was hard coded the country names, I could complain. But its based on performence and the top eight will play. If we can perform and rank in the top eight, it would be us playing, fair enough.

let me ask you a question.
Bangladesh is one of the poorest, most corrupt, militarily weakened countries on earth. Would you support the UN making a decision for either Pakistan or India to annex Bangladesh as an additional province/state?
If not, how is that any different from what the ICC is doing because of our poor cricket performance?
Just in case you haven't noticed, Bangladesh is a country which sucks at everything it does. Don't you find our perennial rank as "world's most corrupt" country equally humiliating as our innings defeats in Tests? So if we should lose Test status to save the faces of weak-minded 'uncle tom' Bangalis, such as yourself, shouldn't we lose our independence as well?

Cant they make it like last time ? it was FAIR.. Top 6 gets an automatic call.. and last 4 fight for 2 spots.. Im sure then Bangladesh will have a good chance of playing the tourny.

It was on the news:
Even though we wont play in the CT, we'd still get a cut of the profit as we are a full member nation.
How good is that?

If we were ranked 8th, the rule would been like this:
Top six will automatically play, the remaining four teams will have to compete among themselves and two will go to the main tourney.
