If win toss, should BD bat or bowl first against AUS?

After today's clinical run chase, the field first camp is happy about proven right, and I am happy too to eat my words. However, I still believe that batting first is the right choice in this WC. Out of 19 completed matches so far in this WC, 10 victories came batting first whereas 9 victories came fielding first.

Please vote and discuss about what BD should do against AUS, assuming Mash win the toss.

And we all know what Mash - MGMT will do. Bat second.

However, if there is a hint (40%+) of rain, then Batting second would be ideal.

Not Mash, I would put my trust on Rhodes, him knowing the conditions here as back of his hand.

I highly doubt Mash is making those choices on his own.

Here is my 2 cents..if Aus bat first they are not scoring anything less than 300 with finch smith warner maxwell in their team..they just need 2 to fire and it will be 300+ minimum

Chasing 300 we wont survive against strac.

Our best bet would be to bat first and hope tamim can tuk tuk and play out some of cummins and strac overs. After these two Aus have nothing..we can attack the other 30 overs and put up a decent score. 1 2 early wickets in Aus chase and you never know

^^ Bat first or bowl first, we have to start well. Get early wickets, and neutralize the Oz gunners at the first 10 overs. Then we have a much better chance.

Bat first must ... even Australia scored 270, BD won’t be able to chase due to Australian variations of their bowler and BD might choke...
I rather bat first , put solid score and attack them with spin ...pressure can knock down big teams
Otherwise even Australia 5 down for 50, they will find a way to comeback like wi vs aus match .

That does sound like a good plan. We can plan our innings around Starc-Cummins better w/o the pressure of chasing.

Also, we can hope for better grip from the surface for our spinners/cutters in the second innings.

If mustafiz wouldn’t take 2 wickets in one over , wi were merged into 400
So bat first , let the 10 over go... use all your resources to score 300 up.. match on for BD

If we play well it doesn't matter what we do. Generally batting first is preferred, especially if we get a pitch like the one where we played NZ. On a pitch like today's, chasing is preferred. There's a bit of assistance for the bowlers in the beginning. Pitch becomes easy to bat on as the day wears on. Also DL seems to favor the team chasing.

I still think batting second was not the right decision. This win was great and shakib clicked (so did liton) but i still prefer the gameplan we had against the Proteas. Please lets not make this mistake again and bat first, post a good total and let the bowler defend the total. You only want to bowl first if you think your bowlers are good enough to rattle through the opposition batsmen and restrict them around 240-250. Our bowling for this WC is not there.

If Weather is not an issue then Bat first. Chasing high totals have an extra pressure. We saw Mushfiq fall victim several times. Mosaddek, Riyad, Miraz can't finish the job if we lose Shakib early. It seems like one man show all over again (with emphasis on batting and not bowling this time.)

Bat first against pakistan and we never win the toss vs india so doesnt matter
