Default Did Ash make a bad call chosing to field first?

BCCB Captain, Ash won the toss and elected to field first. Was it a wrong call?

Well, it's a hard call.
However, the way things r going, I believe we would have done better if we batted first.

Bowlingwise.. it seems to be a weak team.. specially in the pace dept... so they would probably struggle even if they bowled second.

Probably Ash wasn't confident abot Batting first either... whiche led him to decide to bowl first.

Our batting performnce will say whether we have made a wrong choice in fielding first. Because so far, it seems a nice batting friendly pitch.

Yes. he obviously made a bad choice. As captain he is aware of the fact there were no quality pace attack left due to injury or omissions. So, there was no point in trying to take advantage of the green pitch. He should have rather batted for four or five (if possible) and then bowl to Eastern Zoners on the used pitch. Remember, BD will have to bat last on this pitch. I was looking for stats on how a team fared batting in fourth innings (2nd for BD) but did not find anything on the net. But Ash and Dav must have this information about Nagpur ground.

who made this guy captain?? indian wickets are dry and without green. even if there is a little help for the seamers in the beginning Bd doesnt possess the quality in seam dept. Anyone with a little bit of knowledge would have chosen to bat first. We expect the captain to know something, dont we?

Guys I am sure it was team decision... Let's not bash ashraful for this one. It is supposed to be a seamer friendly track... so our pace bowlers did not do enough damage early in the innings.

might be the team was expecting to get the benefit morning of moisture on the pitch. Dev Whatmore was there....so they had better reading of the situations there and planned accordingly. Sometimes plan does not work...this might be one of this case. Or may be condition was favorable and decision was right, but bowlers did not bowl well. Hard to say!!

But as always, since the decision to filed is not working for us, it's quite easy for me to say....the decision was not right. But Ashraful is not as lucky as me!!!!

Did you actually see the pitch? or you just liked blaming Ash for no reason? There are some pitches in India that can help the seamers. Also, the morning dew can be beneficial to the bolwers. Just because things are going south there is no need to bash Ash, because this same you would have hailed him if things went BDs way.

correct me if I am wrong : Why are we still referring to this team as "BCCB"... BCCB used to stand for Bangladesh Cricket Control Board, which was renamed to BCB, Bangladesh Cricket Board. More appropriately, this team is rather Bangladesh Cricket Board XI, or BCB XI in short!

sorry Rajputro, couldnt resist myself from posting this.

Actually, its messed up. It was originally BCCB, then AL made it BCB, then BNP came back and made a rulling, its BCCB, the problem is.. whole world knows it by BCB.

I got a call from a fan (and relative) who was on the ground. He says that atleast the outfield was bone dry when the game started. He does not know about the pitch but looked dry from the stand.

These three are good potentials for a fast bowler. They seem atleast 7 foot to me.

5 foot upto the waist and 2 foot above waist

Obviously it never matters whether we bat or bowl first. We are extremely good at eliminating conditons of play because of our incompetence. 110/5, honestly!
