Default BC bulletin : Bangladesh humiliated in Queenstown

Current/Forthcoming Tours

Bangladesh in New Zealand, 2007-08
Bangladesh humiliated in Queenstown
31 December 2007
Bangladesh has been humiliated for its worst ever ODI performance as New Zealand toyed with Bangladesh attack and stormed to the victory target of 93 in just 6 overs in Queenstown today.
After dismantling the spineless Bangladesh batting line up for a meager 93, Brendan McCullum launched a forgettable onslaught against Bangladesh as he scored 80 runs from just 28 deliveries with a monstrous strike rate of 285.71.

What is the superlative of "humiliated"? We get humiliated once in every couple of matches, but today's match deserves a distinctive adjective.

There are some positives from this fiasco:

1. 2007 ends in less than 24 hrs. So start a clean slate for 2008.
2. Tests follows. With this kind of batterring, one only hopes lot more spine would be shown in Tests.
3. With "Danda" hanging in selectors hands, players will hopefully come up better.

Guys take it easy. It was not our day,, and we were simply outclassed by fast bowling, creative leaderships, uplifted quality attack. We didnt have anwer for it.. we had one Ram Da ( Ashraful),, they had, well the real WMD (the whole NZ team)

You can find a hundred reasons why Bangladesh cricket isn't improving or doing well but those reasons and not very valid in that most of them apply to several other teams, especially India and Pakistan. You can't blame anything on cricketing culture, for, what cricket cricket culture did the native players of Zimbabwe have which enabled them to recover so quickly after the mass retirements four or five years ago.

The only time Bangladesh played Test cricket with consistency was in late 2003 in the five Tests against Pakistan and England. I am wondering what was right then, that ceased to be so thereafter.

Thinking rationally, those few tests can only be explained as accidents.

this is a shame. first batting and then bowling. they won in 6 overs. bangladesh should leave new zealand without playing test matches. i m a supporter of this team doesnt matter if they win or lose but this match was just a disgrace.
