"/" incorrect - should be 'tok + misti' - hu, shobai bole it's outstanding. They make it fresh everyday and it is a really fast seller.

If you refrain yourself from eating salad at the restaurants you should be fine.

I was utterly disappointed at hajir biriyani to be honest. Quality definitely went down. I didnt find much difference between Old Town's biriyani and the hajir biriyani that we get here in NY. Nannar biriyani was tasteless. If you find these tasty then you probably didn't triy biriyani of these places back in the 90's..

Since few are interested in biryani in this area- Kacci @ Star (Kawranbazar) & GiVicni (Farmgate) both are quite good.

I dont think street food quality gone worse. Its Dhakai drinking water is the biggest concern one should keep mind always while attending meal (street/mainstream/*-ranked resturant) outside. I suffered severe Typhoid fever in just 2nd week after arrival from Australia.

I guess my stomach is habituted with day to day low doses of poison like formalin now, in BD I simply cant miss a meal without any kind of delicious fresh water fish. Try Koi mach if someone too much concern with formaline.

I suggest Muslim Sweets in Mirpur 10. Bhagyakul's curd is good by their standards too.

I buy curd from TESS in Cantonment. The shop (Again mini-chain) is under Armed Forces supervision and thus they maintain very high quality in terms of hygiene and at the same time, cost efficient.

Nicely replied. I was pretty sure someone living in Dhaka would come up with something like this.

This is a request for advice from the foodies, I will be in Bangladesh for 2 weeks near end of October. Would like to try out a few restaurants, take the remaining family out and what not. would appreciate any recommendations you may have. I consider myself to be an adventurous eater, but not sure my stomach can take it anymore! But open to most things, but I will not go to a 'continental' food place as that tastes like shiz.

Best time to have Biryani as the meat tends to be the most freshest especially during Eid Adha.

However thats one thing I wont go and eat out cuz I know with the flood of dawats, I will be sick of seeing biryani.

Hope you have a good one!

Thanks. I am planning to have all the deshi food like Kechki Maach, Koi, Muri Ghonto, etc at home. Usually my friends want to take me to Japanese or Korean restaurants or other fancy fast food places but i eat all that stuff here anyways and so Dosa Fuchka Naan Biriyani are the stuff i am looking forward to trying this time.

On the other hand I am looking forward to restaraunts like Korean/Thai in Dhaka as most of these dont offer halal options in the UK. The only issue is the everyday dawats. I know it is with good intention but it takes up most of ones day on a holiday.

Anyone know of a good place to get Chotpoti? I really want to try it but my stomach cannot handle the street cart vendors? Last time I went I got Fuchka at Easter Plaza, is that place still around?

Hajir biryani has deteriorated over the last decade. Haji is no longer the bada## he used to be.

IMO the Fuchka sold on Dhanmondi Road 6 is the best. I have had it for the last 15 years and it hasnt changed (expect the price) even when I went to BD 2 years back.
