Default What did we learn ?

Afghanistan series

Soumya is out of form
Only three bowlers are useful (Mashrafe took 4 wickets, Taskin took 7 wickets, Shakib took 6 wickets )
Mosaddek can bowl
Sabbir plays well at no. 3

BCB XI vs ENG XI

Imrul can replace Soumya
Nasir can be considered
Ebadat Hossain is a decent bowler

Try new leg spinners. Actually Afghanistan series would have been the ideal place to try someone out.

Batting is overrated.

Not scored 300 plus once in the last 6games, despite batting first 5 times.

Ctg Zacs stadium has massive dew under lights, easier to bat as ball doesn't grip and spin as much as it does in the day time, and ball skids onto the bat under with the dew 2nd innings. So NO! to DayNight matches at CTG ever again!

That we need to play with fire and emotion, but not wear our heart on our sleeves. We lost the plot and lost the series after Butler-celebration (if you want to look past the choke in game one)// (And besides the obvious tactical issue of well set batsmen throwing their wickets away. One of the top 3 should've score a ton). Although, it was over the top and very bush league stuff, being a fan of this team of course I have to be biased and say **** em. But the consequences that follows what to led to our demise.

Mash and the guys had to "tone it down" and you could tell there was considerable lack of fire and exciting in the 3rd game from our side. England backed their guys to be themselves and not back down. We have to be ourselves. We have to play with that Bangla passion (while keeping it professional so you don't get fined). This isn't the first time. When Taskin got banned, Mash lost the plot and the end result was much worse. We played very uninspiring cricket. His captaincy was a mess.

Also, screw Ctg crowd, bunch of fairweather fans, leaving while the game is IN THE CRUNCH time! Not every game will be won with 30 overs to spare. Sit your asses down! And stop praying like bunch of idiots when the game is slipping away. And this goes to both city crowds. When the team is down it's your JOB to cheer the loudest and pick up the team. Don't piss your pants in the stands! And WTF are the DJ's doing? They also stop playing music. They should be pumping up the crowd.

As for the celebration, people complaining about our fans and all of that.

Three big concerns for me:

1) Lack of a strike spinner other than Shakib
2) Batting order, lack of defined roles, collapses
3) Fielding quality

All three played a big part in this series loss.

The loss of Sohag gazi was a huge loss. He could have been the 2ND strike bowler easily.

My personal learning:

1. The way we played in the 3rd game vs eng would have been good enough vs WI, Sri, Pak etc but not against a top side like England

2. Our openers lacked a positive approach. Imrul had a script to follow in the first game and he scored a century. He should have carried on with that aggressive approach in the 3rd game. Strike rate of 60 or 70 simply not good enough in modern odi cricket and Tamim let us down massively. When soumia was in form the runrate used to reach 6-7 runs per over in the beginning.

3. We have tried Shafiul before. Is he really good enough vs the top teams? I would go for Rubel who at least has the venom with his short stuff and yorkers with the old ball.

4. Mosaddek is a young cricketer and a wonderful talent for the future. We need to groom this guy.

5. Why we dont have any quality spinners

6. We were competitive without Soumia and Fizz but we lack the firepower vs top sides without them. We didnt do much wrong in the final game but lost to a superior side

The most important thing we have learned as has been pointed out is our weakness against leg spin. Also, there are two spots in our team that are our weak links. One is Mosaddek and another is Shafiul. We could have used a leg spin/ SLA all rounder in Mosaddek's spot, since we have too many off spinners. But not much option I guess. As for Shafiul's spot, we will have that solved when Fizz comes back.

The problem is we never learn!

However one new thing is the team should never take back discarded players like Mosha and Shafiul into the team. Better to give youngsters chance

It was heartening to see we've started to develop that never-give-up attitude. Even when Buttler and Stokes were batting together in the 3rd ODI and needed only 50 odd, you could still sense we're constantly knocking on the door for a breakthrough - more of these crunch moments and we'll be battle-hardened.

Our batting has some work to do. Besides the 3rd ODI against Afganistan i thought we didnt bat well. Our batsmen have to be able to convert better on their starts. No excuses especially for our experienced players.

I thought our bowling was pretty good overall but fielding should be better
