Default Nasir Hossain

Prothom Alo reports Nasir Hossain joined as the 6th player from Rajshahi division in the 13 member ODI squad (after Mushfiq, Naeem, Shuvo, Shafiul, and Zunaed). I guess it's not entirely impossible to see him replacing one of the SLAs (Shuvo or Razzak) in the third ODI against England.

Thinking of it again, Aftab may be more likely to get the chop (in the third ODI) to include Nasir. If Naeem or Mahmudullah gets promoted to #4 slot (with the other one filling #6 in place of Mushfiq, who will bat from #3), Nasir and Shuvo may be our #7 and #8 batsmen.

wow
i did not see this selection coming. can anyone shed more light on him??
whats his batting style?? is he a raqibul type of tamim type? or someone like riyad?
and how good is his offspin? just saw the scorecard for his last game, he bowled 8 overs for 11 runs and one wicket, whyy didnt he bowl more??
is he just a part time bowler? or an allrounder?

I saw him bat against Pak and SL U-21 in SAF games T20. he can rotate strike and also hit. However, I thought Shabbir was more ready.

Seems like selectors wants Rajshahi to lose the game so that Dhaka can play the final.

Nasir is another bits and pieces player like Naeem and Mahmudullah. A batting all-rounder who can spin the ball quite well (off-spinner).

I think he is a good prospect, but we probably need to groom a leg spinner for the future.

i wouldnt call riyad and naeem bits and pieces players anymore.
they used to be when they first came into the team. everyone here was calling for one of their heads, saying they are both too similar to be in the team.
riyad has progressed into one of bangladesh's better batsman, and naeem has developed into a good ODI player with a good future.

Totally agree watched all the match from SAG. He is a good batsmen. One of the major contributor with bat and ball during the Pakistan match which took us to the final.

I really enjoyed his partnership with Shabbir that day. That was the match winner.

I didn't see this coming. He won't get many chances in the team imo due to the fact we have 3 allrounders in the team (Ice man, Riyad, Chokka man) and 1 who's gonna start playing today (Shuvo)

he is a good prospect. he was the vice captain of that team. opened the bowling in powerplay, batted in the top order. also he got a good innings batting at eight at a NCL match recently. though he has been pushed up and down the order a lot.

i think he could be 12th or 1th man today with mashrafe out. now we have only 12 man. so we need somebody to do fielding and carry bottles and other things. only one spare man would be too hard for that man.

anyway if he plays in the team that will mean, one of our off-spin all rounders either riyadh or naeem will get a promotion and nasir may take his place in the bottom order. so somebody from top order will be dropped out.

in this case nasir i think will certainly be a better bowler than naeem or riyadh, and batting wise could also be handy.

i think nasir is good enough bowler to be called a specialist bowler. and he is also a good batsman, to play at 3-7.

what gives him the edge over sabbir rahman is nasir has been in the scene for two years whereas sabbir is a new face.

Most of the time debutants do bad in the international arena becuase of the difference in pace of the fast-bowlers. we wouldnt have to worry about that becauses the wicket is gonna be very slow

nasir has very little chance of playing. he will mainly do the 12th man job

Yeah, Nasir is older and more experienced (although he is officially 18, I am pretty sure he is actually 20/21 years old, since he was left out of last U/19 team).

You can pull out a player from an FC match for the national team.
