Mukti Joddha Vs. East Bengal

Mukti Joddha and East Bengal football encounter in the AFC CUP Group-A match in Kolkata today was a goal-less draw . It's a good result I guess, considering East Bengal is ranked 5th in this year's AFC cup.

I guess everyone knows the result of Brothers Union match as it was a home at Dhaka BNS. Still i would like to add it here as it was a AFC Cup match too.

Brothers Union: 1
Nisa Club, Turkmenistan: 1

It was a fine result too Considering they beat Muktijoddha in last year�s AFC by 1-0 and 3-0 respectively in Home and Away match.

good result for muktijoddha since it was an away match. if i understand properly, away matches fetch more points then home matches, and a loss would definitely put muktijoddha far behind. hope they can pull up a victory at home. what happens if that is drawn too?

as for brothers - i should say it was a very good result indeed.

regarding East Bengal being raked 5th in asia: I think its based on performances not only in internatiojal matches, they are doing very well in their national league, so they are ranked so high. it doesnot necessarily mean they are the 5th best team in asia!

but our result is good for sure.

if its a draw in dhaka then the away goal is gonna decide the winner. if its a goalless draw, then extra time/tie breaker are gonna be in play.

i know who ever scores in the away match gets more weight i mean even if the match is a draw by scoring in the away match they guest will get more points but if both matches r 0 then i don't know what happens...

Can any one clear the rules here... according to bangladesherkhlea in muk game there was a goal which was not given... how the hell a direct through became a goal in football or they have chged the rules or something

I guess you missed the formation of the tournament. 3/4 teams are in each group and they will play home-away basis. So no chance of having tie-breaker or extra time play in the group league at least. See here for more info about the tournament.

It's not a win or lose situation here.
There are 4 teams in the group.
So, it just a point based system here.
No extra time/penalty is involved.
By the way, the other two teams in this AFC Group-A are
Al Faysali (Jordan) and Nebitchi (Turkmenistan). The following is the current group standing:

So, if it's a draw then as always...both team share points.
At the end of all group matches, first Point is counted. Then Gaol Difference, then G/F and then Home/Away score is considered.

Mukti Joddha actually dominated the match against the fancied East Bengals & shud have actually won it as this report suggests......

East Bengal survived anxious moments before finishing goalless with Mukti Joddha Sansad of Bangladesh in their opening AFC Cup match in Kolkata on Wednesday.

The woodwork saved the Kolkata outfit the blushes once while their defenders effected two goalline saves during the latter stages of the opening half as the visitors planned their attacks around the throwing prowess of midfielder Belal Ahmed.

Belal repeatedly caused terror in the East Bengal box with his deep and measured throws, as Mukti Joddha strikers Md Saiful Islam Saif and Rokonuzzaman Kanchan went for the follow-up header.

In the 29th minute, one of Belal's throws from the left caught the East Bengal defence napping and Kanchan took a quick header which hit the post, much to the relief of the spectators.

Belal again showed his mastery in the 41st minute when a deep throw from the left was met with a header by Saif but East Bengal central defender Selwyn Fernandes made a goalline save.

Muktijoddha players, however, claimed that the ball had crossed the goalline but referee Chynybekov Kadypbek of Kyrgyzsthan did not oblige.

More trouble was in store for the home side as Belal's measured throw from the right two minutes later reached Kanchan, who took a low header but Climax Lawrence returned the ball from near the goalline before Chandan Das made the final clearance.

If we do not lose to any team less than 2 goals, I would say we did well. In this case, we did very well

Hopefully, Mukties wont get 3 goals on the next home match
