Dear Arnab
This is a very interesting statistic. I am assuming that it had been collected based on browser language based hits which could be a little misleading. However, by and large I personally don't see any better ways of conducting such a survey.
I would assume that within the next 10 years the Chinese language would overtake the likes of Japanese and German. This would particularly be true if political emancipation follows the trend in China as it had in post coldwar Eastern Europe. The figure of English must be a coagulation of US, British, Canadian, Australian and all the commonwealth countries spoken tongue. This would also include various countries in Africa. What might be a little misleading is that because of large numbers of edicated English speakers in countries like India, Pakista, Srilanka, Bangladesh as well as all over the Far-East, the fugure of English is not based on a geographical populace. Still, very interesting to speculate on! Thanks for posting it.

It's worth noting that this thread, and the stats featured in the original post, are both from five years ago.
