The most attractive (important) tourist spot in BD
Which is the most important tourist spot that must not be missed by any (foreign) tourist while visiting BD.
Infact last week, few foreigners asked me about that.
I have in my minds are:
1. The longet sea shore in the world
2. the biggest mangrove forest (sundarban)
3. coral island (st. martin)
4. sangsad bhaban
What is your thought!

My thoughts are that we have lot of potential tourist spot but with our current government and future government who are more busy with their own hartals and electoral frauds, those spots won't be utilised for a long time to come.

My brother just got back from BD and according to him Cox's Bazar has really improved.. the roads are nicer, as you drive in you can see the ocean from far (like southend, england), hotels are supposedly 'world class' and the beach looks as nice as 'Goa'. If it's really what he says it is, then I guess tourism industry in BD can improve a lot if only the gov't takes the necessary initiave.

Visit Rangamati....
Simply amazing, just superb. Starting from the thrilling one lane road up there to the amazing boat trip in the lake, visiting the newly made pagoda in the cliff. Its no less than those places in malaysia or thailand.

As I am a big fan of mountain climbing I would suggest anyone to visit Hilly tracks of Chittagong. Chimbuuk, Bijoy are among the highest mountains in Bangladesh.

Nothing beats Cox Bazar in Bangladesh. I havent been around a lot in Bangladesh but I have been to sylhet, chittagong, rangamatind a few other places but nothing comes close to cox bazar. Specially now that it has some more entertainment on the beach like water sports and a pretty good Barbeque restaurant which is the most expensive Sheek Kabab seller I have been to in my enitre life in Bangladesh !!!!So would not recommend the place to anyone but i guess it is there for the foreign tourists. The ambience though is very nice.

Yes, Cox's Bazar tops it all. Last time i was there was in 98, but heard improved a lot over the years.
Infact, the whole south eastern side of BD, starting with Ctg, Bandarbon, Rangamati, Cox's Bazar, St Martin's Island, are all a must see.
Sylhet's tea garden is also a great place to visit.

Shadar Ghat and old Dhaka is very popular among Japanese and other foreigners, because of the chaos.

Those places mentioned above are very good in harbouring local tourists. But for a foreigner coming to our country it makes no difference between Kakrail or Cox Bazar city center.
We have lot of potential places like i mentioned earlier but attract foreign tourism, we need to build proper hotels, create more resort facilities, improve roads around the beaches and remove all the beggers from the beach area.improve airport system including speeding up the time it takes at immigration. Bangladesh is not ready for foreign tourism.
When I went back to Dhaka this December, it took me 2.5 hours standing in the immigration to get stamped. Thats almost the same as my flight from Kuala Lampur. No one deserves to go through this. Pissed me off thoroughly to see those immigration officers chewing paan and staring at you rather than doing the work.
I enjoyed my trip to Cox Bazar thoroughly because I am used to the situation in the country. But for foreigners who cant take a bath without hotwater, can't eat without fork and spoon, needs ATM wherever they go coz they dont like carrying too much cash, for them we need to build these facilites. Flights to Bangladesh are very expensive, it cost less to travel from Sydney to New York rather than Sydney to Dhaka.
I went there this January which was mid winter. The hotel we went to had no hot water but in Dhaka, they hotel guys said there would be everything. This was mid winter. Now I can go out and fight with those guys about these nonsense but I cant imagine a Japanese tourist to do the same.
Our Cox Bazar lies close to other tourist spots like Bali and Phuket, and if we dont fix it, we will never improve on tourism.

dont forget "watering holes" and "nightclubs" with good djs, dancefloors, and lighting for the foreigners. thats why goa, phuket and bali are more popular. So far the things Coxs Bazar has in plenty to cater to the young white backpack crowd is weed and yaba.
