Taking history lessons from Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka won their first overseas test match after their 13 years of playing test cricket.
Can we learn something from this?
SL's victory over NZ

Muralitharan- that's all i have to say
Considering the wicket they played on and with the likes of Rutherford in the opposition batting line up , and that they won away (a commendable feat if you look at their situation today), I would say that was a convincing victory.

If that is the only answer, then how long will it take us to find a 'Muralitharan' of our own? It took us nearly 4 years to find a 'Rafique', and now we know that we've got a future replacement for Rafique in 'Enamul Junior' - if he ever becomes a 'Rafique' that is, (hopefully he'll be even better than Rafique is, now), given the time and experience.

Is that not funny ,,,,,,, Last series SL and NZ , NZ won the series i guess that was 1-0 ........ So , the lessons they have taken before now they gave it back to kiwis in kiwiland ..........When they won it was 94/95 about 10 years ago but they already gave their victory back to kiwis by 1-0 so we don't need to learn nothing from them . If we have to then we have to learn something from Ashes which England haven't won in last 20 odd years ..... Probably still can't win ..........

I didn't post this thread to discuss about SL since I have posted this on 'Bangladesh Cricket' section, rather than on 'International cricket' section. But since you have told the above in your reply, so here goes.
The 1995 SL team was far more experienced than the current SL side. Except for 2 or 3 batsman (Jayasuriya,Atapattu, Jayawardena) and 2 or 3 bowlers (Vaas, Muralitharan - who is not playing this series) they don't have any more successful as well as experienced players in their side to win an overseas test victory outside the subcontinent.
The rest of the players are successful, but not experienced (Dilshan, Sangakara, Chandana).

Not to worry , anyone playing with Aussies in a full series that teach them a lot as we saw with the kiwis and pakis already ........ And we gonna play the full series against Aussie in 2006 so , we learn heaps from there too ........ But for the meantime we are playing with England ( It's 2nd in the rank ) it's gonna teach us too as we played with India(3rd in the rank) what helped us to win the Zimbabwe series ........ we can't forget that .......

The things that we can learn from Sri Lanka or any other side of the subcontinent is the following:
1. SLAs, SLAs everywhere in Bangladesh. But how many successful spinners do each subcontinent teams have in one decade? One or two at most. Muralitharan (SL), Kumble, Harbhajan (IND), Mushtaq Ahmed, Saqlain Mushtaq (Pakistan) - and now they have only Danish Kaneria, who we can forget at the moment since he has still not past a considerable amount of time and success in International cricket. So, in that trend, we have Rafique now, and in future, we'll have Enamul Junior and that's it. The others are just fringe spinners.
2. Over-dependency on one spinner (or, just the spinner) has brought doom for the Asian giants' trio (Ind, Pak, SL) on the long term and when they had combined their pace, spin and batting together, only then, could they have succeeded at any level - whether Tests or ODIs.

For your kind info : NZ didn't have single player avg 39.00 .......In those match played 10 years back . When Srilanka had a player like De Silva , Gurusinha ........ Only Flemming's avg 38.25 but i bet last 10 years back Flemming only averaging 28.29 So , how can ya think to win a test match ...... Wasn't that Kiwi side a similar side to Bangladesh side what we are now , as only Bashar and Nafis having avg more than 30.00 odd and rest is like that hopeless like kiwi side about 10 years back........ So , they have changed in that in years . So , here we go , who we can learn ? From Kiwis or from Srilankans ? Now kiwis beat Srilankans already with a much better side .
