Default Afghanistan A Tour Of Bangladesh - July 2019

Afghanistan A team to visit Bangladesh, a group of very talented players. Am expecting at least 5-7 of these guys replacing oldies from our current WC squad when we visit you in september for a tri-series between our teams and Zimbabwe

I think or I hope we’ll see a different Afghanistan team, therefore I don’t think they’ll be up to the mark on their first series.

They should give Shahzad a pass. He is a catalyst for the powerplay overs

Should have been a full tour imo.

T20s, tests and ODIs.

But we need to avenge the 3-0 t20 loss

Also what is with that triangular series schedule?

All four matches are Afg vs either us or Zim. What about BD vs Zim

lol its schedule released by Afg board..so obviously they are only showing Afg matches...as usual overconfidence on full display as they are also showing the final

Though overconfidence is not misplaced here. As Afg is the highest ranked team in this tournament

It's afghan board bro, off course they only want to show afghan part of it
imagine how readable that picture would become with full tournament schedule.

Anyway, our extremely highly rated A team lost 2 practice matches to our U19 team before leaving for Dhaka today

5 players failed Yoyo and were sent home

How are your feelings towards gulbadumb naib? Sorry for asking this but you are the only Afgan in this forum. Should have never changed asgar as captain before the WC tbh. Afg results would have been much better otherwise

You guys should have won that Pak match..it was an absolute farce. Imam should have been out for a duck of rashid

Asghar should have never played for us, that idiot is cause of all trouble. I don’t know what the hell Gulbadin was thinking but he did something similar against India when rahmat shah was bowling very well.

We should at least have had 6 points so far, sl, ind, and Pakistan. With cautious play your target wasn’t out of reach either.

Not only Imad but Harris was out on 2 as well, we didn’t have a review because Gulbadin had wasted it.

I think he should be given till the end of this year, he has had his brain farts but he has been a fighter throughout the tournament and even before. He has been under lot of pressure.

Afg lacks the maturity of closing out the games. We suffered from similar mental block for a decade. Thankfully we seem to have overcome it against most teams except for just India and Aus now.

How good are these young crop of Afg players? Are they better than the likes of old players like Nabi, Asgar, Shinwari, Naib etc?

After a miserable 2015 World Cup, our newly appointed chief selector (Andy Moles) who then was our coach with national academy coach told the board officials that there was no reason we kept playing Asghar, nawroz and other oldies when we were blessed with very capable younger players. As the oldies won’t improve.

Board at that time and until few months ago was ran by Shafiq Stanikzai, good friend of Asghar and other oldies. Instead of following Andy Moles’s advice, Shafiq sacked Moles and national academy coach Peter Anderson. They made agreement with Nabi that he would step down and offer his captaincy to Asghar. Which also happened, Shahzad who had been thrown out for bad form and discipline was also called back after the coaches were sacked.

Few months ago new chairman sacked his CEO (Shafiq), ahead of world Asghar with others tried to install Shafiq as chairman, they lost and Asghar got demoted. Lot of noise and drama was created and goes on till this day

New chairman also doesn’t want to renew Phil’s contract, because Phil doesn’t want to coach us inside Afghanistan. And also because Phil was hired by Shafiq and Asghar.

Some our training camps in India has cost us around half million USD. Money the new chairman wants to spend on domestic cricket.

We were actually quit the opposite, we won matches out of nowhere, this all changed under Asghar.

In domestic cricket new corp is much better than some of the seniors and also look much more compact but none has had a long stint with the national team. So we actually don’t know

This Bangladesh tour will be a good indication of their strength, but they lost convincingly in 2 of 3 matches to our U19. Which is a very new team and preparing for upcoming u19 WC

The only reason we haven’t played up to our full potential since 2012 has been our first batch of cricketers. They think they are the founders and therefore they should decide how the board is managed and by whom

I must say you all are forgiving Naib quite well, if a BD captain (anyone besides Mashrafe) had done what Gulbadin did vs Pakistan then he would have been sacked the moment tournament was over.

I have a soft corner for him, I know what he has been through and what kind of personality he has. But rest of Afghanistan wants to drink his

Esp. screwing it up against Pakistan, who’s establishment 99,9 percent of us hates from the core of our heart. Just today 44 school kids were martyred by a bomb blast claimed by Pakistan’s right hand (the Taliban)

Your team will go very far I think, because you don't have an iota of complacency in your bone.

We couldn't even groom a proper wk for our national team, so you can imagine the type of histrionics that go on at the lower club level.

Bowlers come out of nowhere but proper batsmen are not made on our cement pitches or on the streets

No, he has to pass the yoyo test, 6 other players who are in much better condition than Shahzad failed.

All young players, except two Merwais Ashraf and Fazal Niazi, who are there to share their experience with the boys
