Default Bangladesh "A" Team's tour of West Indies 2011

Bangladesh A to tour Windies

The Bangladesh A team will go to the West Indies next month to play a full series against their West Indian counterparts.

The second string Bangladesh side will fly on October 30 to play two four-dayers, two T20s and three one-day matches spread out over four islands.

It is yet to be decided when the camp for the A team will start as the National Cricket League (NCL), the lone first-class competition in the country, is expected to start from October 10 according to the domestic calendar.

It is likely that a weeklong camp will take place after two rounds of the NCL

Very good squad. I would like to see Shafiul with this squad. He needs more matches before Pak series.

Independent TV had some ex player, who is a local ump now(the name escapes me unfortunately) and he mentioned the same thing, when asked about the NCL.

Actually he went further, he said, the NCL was almost pointless...which I thought was a bit strange.

Bowling line up is very weak. Not going to win any games in this tour with this bowling.

Eibar Akram asholey kepse mone hoi.

Even Alok-ke khoma kore disilo. Complainly publicly and puting Akran in the akward postion is really going to hurt him this time.... unless he prevately approach Akram for khoma.

Pretty good squad.
Good to see that the selectors have kept faith in Jahurul and Junaid, both who have been in dreadful form recently. Mominul has been rewarded for his good performances in the past year or so. Hopefully he makes the most of this opportunity.
Also a good decision not to pick Ash and Alok, as we need to give the youngsters as many of these types of games as possible. They are vital games in their development.
The only changes I would have made would be to pick Anamul Haque Bijoy and Asif Ahmed Ratul instead of Mithun Ali and Nasiruddin Faruque. Anamul and Asif have been in excellent so far in this years NCL and have so much more potential that Mithun and Nasiruddin.
Also I would have like to see Shafiul in this squad if he is fit enough, as he is missing the current Tests against the West Indies. This would allow him to develop his bowling in the longer format and it would make the bowling line-up stronger as at the moment it looks relatively weak and inexperienced compared to the batting line-up.

Happy to see some attention shown to Jahurul. Weird how they have Nasir and Raqibul in there. It's usually other way around.

I am sure Biz J/Z will turn it around. Fire some tons and make his way back to the National XI.

1.Mithun Ali in the team and No Dhiman ! This is just like a LOL to me.
2.I expected Alok in the squard.
3.Farhad Reza was the most successfull pacer in A team tour of SA,did a decent job in BCB cup.I expected him in the squard.Probably Alauddin Babu got the nod over F Reza.
So There are some mess in the squard.Still the team is looking balanced.I am happy to see Nasiruddin Faruk there.Selectors need to concentrate on this type of domestic performers.

Why is BCB soooo obsessed with Shagir and Mithun??? There is Aanmul, whose batting is better than Mithun by a country mile. Even Dhiman is better

Overall a gd squad. Gd to see Hom and Nasir there...the more they play, the better they will be

In bold: Player to watch out for me, specially Noor!!! Spin attack looks gd ;Gazi and Noor

BDFlag Bangladesh 'A' team in WI 2011

Barnes to coach A team to WI

The national selectors selected a strong Bangladesh A team, drafting in four current Test team players for the tour of West Indies in November.

Rokibul Hasan, Sohrawardi Shuvo, Shuvagoto Hom and Nasir Hossain, who are in the Test squad for the ongoing two-match series against the visiting West Indies, were included in the side for the tour where the second string Bangladesh side will play two four-day, two T20 and three one-day matches.

Top order batsman Jahurul Islam has been named captain of the team while wicketkeeper-bats-man Mohammad Mithun was made his deputy. The team will leave for Antigua on October 29, but the players who will be selected to play the second Test against West Indies in Mirpur will join the team later.

Stuart Barnes, an ECB elite bowling coach and Gloucestershire CCC 1st team coach, is all set to accompany the second string side during the Caribbean tour as head coach. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) all but finalised the contract with the Englishman who was also one of the aspirants for the post of bowling coach of the national team. Stuart Barnes is expected to join the team in Bangladesh before the trip.

“We have almost finalised everything and are hopeful that he (Stuart Barnes) will join the team before the trip,” said BCB's CEO Manzur Ahmed when asked about the appointment of Stuart Barnes yesterday. Chief selector Akram Khan believes that this tour is an opportunity for the players to hog the spotlight before the home series against Pakistan.

“We don't have enough options in our hand and that's why we have to pick some players from the national side. It's a great opportunity for the players, especially for the young guys, to prove themselves in West Indies before the selection of the team for the home series against Pakistan,” said Akram. The players have been asked to report to the team manager Mojibul Hoque at the GP-BCB National Cricket Academy ground in Mirpur at 8:30am on October 29.

SQUAD

Jahurul Islam (captain), Mohammad Mithun (vice-captain), Junaed Siddiqui, Rokibul Hasan, Robiul Islam, Sohrawardi Shuvo, Shuvagoto Hom, Nasir Hossain, Nasir Uddin Faruque, Kamrul Islam, Mominul Hoque, Nur Hossain, Shohag Gazi and Alauddin Babu.

ITINERARY

November 5-8: First 4-dayer at Antigua
November 12-15: Second 4-dayer at Beausejour
November 18: First T20 match at Beausejour.
November 19: Second T20 match at Beausejour
November 23: First One-day at Arnos Vale
November 25: Second One-day at Arnos Vale.
November 27: Third One-day at Arnos Vale.
