Thumbs down Bangladesh To Host Pakistan for 5 ODI in March

Would have Rather had a 5 20/20's series or Even 50X Better a Proper Test Series, Now we get 5-0 in front of our Home Fans

Quote:
Pakistan to play five ODIs against Bangladesh in March
Thu, Jul 17th, 2008 9:48 pm BdST
Dhaka, July 17 (bdnews24.com) – Bangladesh will host Pakistan in a five-match one-day international series in March 2009, said a Bangladesh Cricket Board official Thursday.

BCB cricket operations chairman Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu said that Pakistan would play five ODIs against Bangladesh in March 2009 under the bilateral agreement between the two boards.

Lipu said that Pakistan's tour of Bangladesh in March would be out of the ICC Future Tour Programme (FTP) as Bangladesh also toured Pakistan to play a five-match ODI series last April beyond the ICC FTP.

The BCB Thursday approved a Tk 57 crore deficit budget for 2008-09 fiscal and Lipu felt that Pakistan's tour of Bangladesh next year would help them reduce the deficit.

Why is there only negativity in your post? It is supposed to be a bilateral agreement...and so it's ODI for ODI...naki rupa diya shona kinte chaan bhai?

Theres Something called Overkill, were played them 7 times in the last month, I really doubt the BCB will make any profit off this, Unless we win than people will come and watch.

Bangladesh used to pull in big crowds and the Kitply cup was a disaster, mainly cause of the losing

ODI are a Dying breed

i am hoping guys like Shahadat Hossain, Abdur Razzak, Mortaza, Rakibul, Sakibul, Rasel are world class by then.

should be a good one...

however, i Never ever want to see "4th of july 2008 pad-marka performance" EVER AGAIN!

Well, we all thought playing Zimbabwe last two years was an overkill. But was it?

When the agreement was for a reciprocal tour, then why complain about it my friend?

well for us, our whole FTP is "overkill"

i'm excited. pakistan is the most beatable team out there for us. if the boys can learn to "stay at home" (i.e play within their limitations), there's no reason why we can't compete. lets remember than the last ODI series was with our less than full strenght bowling attack. 40% of our bowling was missing in the forms of rasel and saqib. that extra 1.5-2 runs per over off 20 overs is 30-40 runs total.

it all comes down to whether we continue improving nor not.

Its only natural, we helped them when they really needed and now they should return the favours.
But still, the committment needs to be acted upon and good to see PCB is doing the same.
They definitely gets my applaud for being gentleman enough, and not "postponing" citing whatever reasons.

Its only upto us to make the series worthwhile for everybody concerned.

Exactly my sentiment.

As you know...one of our neighbors would have many excuses for not returning the favor.

Can't believe you guys complaining about ODIs. We need to play as many as we can. if you don't like to watch it then go to bed or what ever you want but don't complain...

I know not far ago people were screaming for more game which was right thing to do.

More we play less we will be scared of those bouncers.

Spot on.
Playing in Pakistan is very different than in Bangladesh. By next year, we would find Tigers in much better shape, I believe.

Spot on Kabir bhai. We will do better next year as JS would have more time spent with the Tigers.

Pakistan may be more beatable by next year. One year is a long time to have many players banned.

Good that we are having some more practices. We will anyway lose with any of the B8 we are playing, so it's nothing new. if by chance pak has a off day we win, they have a lot of off days anyway, it onlt didn't coincide with us.

Playing again and again in quick succesion with the same team, helps to improve the game. So no complains. If the coach doesn't train, let it be on job.

at the same time BCB should also look for Zim to make them come here for 5 ODIs n 2/3 four/five days FC match and also BD to fly there.

I like the idea of inviting Zimbabwe better than flying over there. End of the day, you have two objectives:

1. Play as much as you can
2. Play against a variety of oppositions if you can

we could be a lot stronger by the next meeting.

bangladesh don't have the luxury of not playing 1-3 top player and thats what we've done for the past dozen ODIs or so. matches could be a lot closer with our top strength guys.

death to 20-20!
