Bangladesh needs to change the National Anthem????

A National Anthem is much more than how melodious or out of the world it sounds to the ears and more about what kind of passions & emotions come attached with it.

It's like one's mother - it is never her looks or success in life that evokes your love and respect and you don't change her for a better-looking, more successful lady.

On the other hand, there is nothing wrong if people want to debate on changing the National Anthem or if they want to replace it.

While we are on the subject of revamping our national anthem may I suggest that we should change our flag as well. Perhaps we could change our national anthem to the solo (part 1) of November Rain by guns and roses.

Agreed. At a high level, I can find many issues with the current national anthem and can state many reasons why it could be changed. But then, discussing it at a national level or with even a slight bit of seriousness, when people are starving in the streets, is what it is - a non-issue.

I say that we replace the Shapla with a facial print of our jateer pita Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Without his sacrifice, we would not even had a flag to wave today.

Not bad at all. Although to be fair, it'll be awfully hard to sing along with. Almost Opera-like... Thats one of the reasons I like our National Anthem so much. I have fond memories of my entire school singing the national anthem at morning assembly. Hard to beat that feeling...

Well I think there should many changes to the profile of the country:
1) The name of Bangladesh should change to East Bengal
2) The anthem should be changed if does not represent Bangladesh, rather people of Bengal
3) The flag should be designed more with the Coat of Arms (not very focused on this change)

The reason why we should change to East Bengal, because it isolates the people from West Bengal, i mean aint the region of Kolkata known as "Bangla desh", they speak Bengali as well, the whole reason why we are seperated is because of religious reasons, in Bangladesh they allow relgious freedom of speech, but then the people of West Bengal are Bengali, why dont they deserve the name of 'Bangladesh'?

u have some fair points mohsin bro, but West Bengal is the more "book" name given to the region, we would just call it "Paschim Banga". The " Bengal" is the name given by the British to anglicize their empire. Both Bengalis in West and East (and rightly so) have moved for these names to made more banglified, even in Kolkata now, the old English names are being discarded and the local names are used instead. Even now there is debate about whther the State name should be changed, and in my opinion it should.

In response to your 2nd response, perhaps it maybe changed, as it does represent the peoples of both Bengals, there was quite a stir when one of the politicians of Bengal said his Tagore song was "Amar Shonar Bangla" (as is my gradfathers), it can be rather confusing, but that does not mean Bangladesh should change it for that particular reason.

an interesting note is that in the english media based in Kolkata, they tend to call West Bengal- Bengal and when referring to Bangladesh- either as Bangladesh (or to catch the eye in headlines and save space- Bangla)

IMO, picking up a different passport is an easier solution.

Some people should listen to the national anthems of all the countries and pick up the passport of choice.

Well I think its about time India should change West Bengal to something else called... 'Pashim Banga' right, I mean its called West Bengal but where is the East of it, it is just really confusing, but does anyone have any idea of what they would call Bangladesh rather than 'Bangladesh', because it just means 'Bengali country' that name just isolates Bengali people of India to Bangladesh... i just cant think of one??? Even now if we change together as 'Bengal', where would Ganguly go and the stadium of Kolkata?
