Default Chance for extra matches???

SL's tour of ZIM next month has been postponed. We have the NZ series, but a big gap after that. Perhaps SL can be invited in November for a couple of Tests or 3-5 ODIs. I hope the BCB makes moves, because cricinfo reported the SLC is looking to fill the void, and most other countries are engaged in committments, except us!

I know we're playing SL as our next bilateral series but that is 4 months after the NZ series. Who cares if we play back to back series? We need the experience and we've been playing less and less each successive year. If India can play SL 6 times a year, why can't we play them back to back?

Anyone know if the BCB is communicating with the SLC?

Even Zim can be invited, maybe for 2 tests, 3 ODI, 1 T20...

I see that SL has a pretty big away series against NZ in December. So it would be pretty hard to schedule a series in November. I see the only other team that has an empty schedule is Zimbabwe. We should consider scheduling a series against them in between the NZ and SL series. BCB might be reluctant though since we have a T20 WC and Asia Cup around the same time and we know how BCB don't like to multitask too much. So it's unlikely the schedule will change

Actually doesnt make sense to arrange another tour unless BCB can make someone invite us for a short visit. First there is DPL then New Zealand, NCL, BPL, Sri Lanka, Asia Cup, World Cup T20. Our players will have a pretty decent next 6 months of cricket. Our board will be super busy with preparation of these tournys. Besides, I actually want our players to be available for NCL. NCL needs these players as much as these players need NCL. Tamim and Shakib specially need to make themselves available for NCL. Neither one of them are legendary enough to skip this.

anything would be good, even against zim, we should probably play more tests against zim, it's not like we are playing many tests and any test cricket is better than no test cricket. plus if BD want respect in the test cricket world then beating zim in that format is a good way to start to get match practice and confidence to then start beating the better sides.

all the other cricket nations schedule series during their domestic tournaments so why should BD be any different. we can say we want national team players for the quality and better standard but the quality needs to improve regardless of whether national team players are there or not. it's like saying the the aussie cricket board you can't play any international cricket between october and february even though that's your best time to play cricket. if this happened we wouldn't have got the recent ashes series in england and we wouldn't get the one in australia that's coming up.

not playing international cricket during the domestic period is not the answer to improving domestic cricket, they need to improve it in other ways because if they do it that way then the national team suffers and ultimately the national team is where we want big results to happen.

i wud prefer any opposition. our players are not getting enough match, if that continues--we will have to start like those ICC days. based on our winning in recent years against strong opposition, we def deserve more matches

we beat wi (3-2)
beat srilanka
beat NZ (4-0)

i think in every bilateral series, we won atleast 1 match
if we wud have continued playing--we could have win some more matches or series.

bad luck to all fans and our selfish BCB admin should be blamed

Lets not compare other countries with Bangladesh. By no means am I saying BCB shouldnt arrange international tours for domestic schedule. But we just had couple of months of zero schedule and BCB took no initiative to keep players engaged. Whats more they even refused an Irish invitation. Now we are getting into a period where our players will have a fairly busy schedule so we dont need more than that.

About NCL, well its been a while since we had all our players playing at the same time. our players can use NCL to improve their temperament, endurance. Our bowlers can experiment on variations. Inviting teams like Zimbabwe or Ireland makes no financial sense whatsoever for BCB anyways.

Again, It would be great if someone invites us. If not, just stick to playing NCL for that duration.

Inviting Ireland or traveling to ireland would be the best idea in my opinion. Maybe try touring with a fairly young team similar to what India did with zimbabwe. We can try our future pace options.
