Is Javed Omar Belim's career finsihed?

Look at Javed Omar's scores in the last Australia, Pakistan and now this England series.

His top score against Pakistan was 119 and that was it. Otherwise, his scores are pretty poor.

Not that he is a bad player, but I think Nafis deserves a chance. With all due respect most of the ICC type players have some sort of conspicuous weakness. Beside so far we did not get anything extraordinary out of them. So, there is nothing to lose in changing some of the players. And Golla should be one of the tops on this list as he has some shaky techniques and there is a good (apparently) alternative available.

As far I think Javed shouldn't be playing as an opener; he can't handle the pace, he is very awkward playing them. He plays spin better; so if we wanna keep him then we will have to bring him down the order at 5 or 6. Otherwise we have no better choice than Nafis. And yes pls note that Javed can only be good in tests as he would help to stop the collapse.

What if we play Javed at number 6 against Zimbabwe? Provided that Nafees plays better in the one day series and is thereby selected for the Zimbabwe test series.

I want to change my mind about Golla's not having anymore chance. As ehsan said, he should not play as an openar. He should be taking place of Ash, or who even is in Ash's place. Let him play at the place 2 or 3 times. If he doesn't succeed, then drop him.

I think we not not get rid of Omar completely. We should give him a try later on down the order at like number 4,5 or 6.
It worked for Mark Butcher of England, since moving from opener he has scored loads of runs (luckily not against Bd,ha,ha)

Give him ago in a test series before deciding if he still has a test future

We can always have Nafis as an opener for both one day and test but Javed can only be there when there is a test. If we want we can always try him in ODIs. I think the Nafis-Hannan pair will be a good trial and can be successfull who knows. It will be definitely better than Javed-Hannan pair.

Javed Omar is a fine batsman, so is Ashraful. Very much the same way Mashrafee is a fine bowler. These are all developing players. If any of them hit a bad patch, we want to discard them immediately. Much the same way we Bangladeshis talk more than anyone else about our not belonging to the Test Cricketing Nations Club.

I would like to remind all of us that most of "The Worst" records in cricket are held by other test playing countries. Even with so many failures, we do have some degree of consistancy in success. Not too long ago, a foreign sports writer was defending New Zealand's 21 year Saga before winning their first test match. He wrote that New Zealand did not get to play so many matches like BD is playing. Well, that only means that the Kiwis were given ample time to build infrastructure, produce cricketers and prepare for each series, and it still took them more than 2 decades to notch 1 lousy win. In the past 2 years, the most uninterrupted period our cricketers had for training was about 45 days. So, the Kiwis actually look even worse if we use that logic.

We all want our batsmen to be more consistant and patient in the field. Well, why not lend some of that good advise to ourselves first? Let's practice what we have been trying to shove down their throats. Let's have support for these true heroes and pioneers of Bangladesh cricket and for once, become true fans ourselves?

As for Javed:
He is a fine, fine batsman, a diamond in the rough.
He was picked to play for Bangladesh much less times than Sumon.
He is next in line to score a 1000 test runs for Bangladesh.
He is 4 whole years younger than Sumon.
He has a very credible record against Zimbabwe, and, this may come as a surprise,
Yes, his ODI average is indeed better than that of Basher.

So, people, please, enough with that "Off With His Head" cry eh? Whad'ya Say?

I am baffled here a bit? Why are we even asking this question? he is gonna be back... sooner than u think, maybe not as an opener but as a middle order batsman... he does play the general middle match bowlers pretty well... he just messes up with the new ball... I wonder why they kept trying him for opener for so long... the best experiment to carry on with him was to play him in the middle slots... like he played in the test when he wasnt allowed to come in to bat as a opener by the match officials... he did pretty decent then I think... and he can stay in the crease like a test batsman shud do... he just gets out cause he really sucks in handling the beginning overs... rarely managed to get past them... but whenever he did he did manage to get 50's... and even a hundred...
