Another Bashar in the making.
Until now we had only one test class batsman and that is Habibul Bashar. But now we have another one in the making who is none other than Mushfiqur rahim.
His recent batting prooves that. He is averaging somewhre near 37 in the last 8 matches or so( correct me if I am wrong). His batting technique now looks to be more polished and shot selection much more refined.Unfortuntely he has to bat lower down the order. He is also improving with his keeping. If he bats like this, its not far that we will have a strong middle order.
Good luck to him for the future.

Mushfiq is definitely a superb test batsman. But he has much to do before competing with Bashar for test batsman.

He has to become Mr.50 first to be compared with Bashar!

if bashar was Mr.50, then Mushfiq must become Mr. 100

He is already more than Bashar because of his 'machine gun brush fire' (from his mouth).
And it is working.
Just before the out of Tino Best in the 2nd WI innings of the 2nd Test, Mushy screamed, "Boys, it is coming".
And then Tino Best fell. Was he nervous because of Mushy's screaming?

I know mushy has been good with the bat lately and I like how he tries to get set before doing anything fancy AND once he is set, he can score runs quickly if needed. BUT, I'd like to see he does his primary duty with better accuracy. His wicketkeeping has been sub per for international level many a times.

He has improved as a keeper...quite significantly. He just needs to remain consistant.
As per his batting skills, he has improved a lot. He does try to settle in, watch for the ball...and get the hang of it first. I like that attitude.

Mushi on his own in the making, NOT a single similarity between them.

I support that .I think its a method of making the opposition's batsman nervous and this is more disturbing when U can communicate in a language that the opponents also understand and that is what mUshi does. So, I think its justiied. It will be more worthwhile if he can do it against teams like S.A or Aus.

I always thought Mushy has one of the best techniques in our whole team. But the only thing is that Mushy cant handle pace that well. Anything around 80-85 MPH he looks a bit shaky. But I think if he works on it for a bit he would get used to the speed and be able to play faster bowlers much much better.
He is also improving a lot with the keeping. Comparing to the 1st time I had seen him, he has improved a lot, that said he still isn't one of the best keepers in the world right now so I would like for him to keep on working on his keeping!

People loved Bashar for his aggression, not for temperament. While other Bangladeshi top order batsmen stayed busy ducking or swaying away from short pitched deliveries (most of our batsmen still do) Bashar fearlessly hooked and pulled. Bashar got out cheaply often in the process (although he maintained higher average comparing to other Bangladeshi batsmen), but he was pretty much only one willing to take the fight to opposition (except on occasions when SN or Ash played some terrific innings).
Sorry, I don't see any resemblance between Bashar and Mushfiq's batting.

His shouting has improved, I noticed that too. Plus his voice has gotten deeper, so his shouts are louder, not as squeeky but equally annoying. His english has also improved as he's able to should more creative things nowadays in english and that definatly can affect a batsmen. Way to go Mushi!

I agree with Eshen. I think Tamim and Shakib would be better choice. Bashar so called "Mr. Fifty" stays in number 1 position for the moment..

On a serious note though, I love the way Mushfiq has developped as a cricket as of late. His keeping in this Test series has improved immensely. And he's ofcourse been impressive with his bat.
He just needs to make sure that he plays better against genuine pace, because I think that's his only real weakness when it comes to batting.
Would love to see some prolonged consistency out of him and with that, he can surpass Habibul Bashar as a Test batsmen IMO. Good luck Mushfiqur!

Mushy will turn out to be our "Glichrist" in couple of years.
He has a cool head when he bats and needs just a bit consistency in keeping which has been improving.
