Mvp
Vote for your most valuable player. Basically who is the one player who you can't see us competing without? And then rank your top 5 players in terms of their importance to the team.

Is there any option to rank them? Thanks for bringing up such an interesting thread.
{Importance.....on and off the field]
1. Mashrafe Mortaza [Good leadership capability, on and off the field. He is the team spirit]
2. Shakib Al Hasan [performance wise, #1]
3. Tamim Iqbal
4. Mushfiqur Rahim [as there is no one else in your list]
.
.
.
16. Mohammad Ashraful [for passing SSC, or did he?]

Actually a fit Mashrafe would also be very useful in Tests. At the moment we have three bowlers who concede between 4-5 runs an over and on occasions even more. And only one bowler who regularly threatens to pick up wickets and controls his economy rate at the same time. If we can have the Mashrafe of Olde back then it will take a lot of pressure off Shakib because even if he doesn't pick up wickets he will keep the runs in check which will allow Shakib to attack.

Yes Ash passed SSC. BTW that dig at his education was unnecessary. You will find plenty of things to criticise about his performance anyway.

I can see it improving with Pont's arrival. Shafiul has shown great promise (albeit in bowling conditions) in his debut tests.
Mashrafe with his injury problem is really a gamble - you wont know how long will he stay fit. He hasn't done anything great in tests so far either, I've seen him getting spanked many times in tests. So there's no way to pick him except if it is for captiancy as Shaks don't want to be captain. I'll rather persist with Rubel/Shahadatand Shafiul for drawing the first blood. Sakib and the rest will do the major part hopefully.

Who we can't see us competing without? That has to be Shakib. Besides it's already proven that we not only CAN compete without Tamim, Mashrafi & Ashraful but can beat the top teams also.

We saw improved Tamim, Shak, Mushi etc....or even SN
But why Whatmore, JS or their predecessors cant improve Ash?
Better education helps you crossing those mental barriers mate! Consider the question as to point out his bird brain.
It just became my habit to bang Ash, cant help. No hard feelings mate.

Yes he's not highly educated but people without any education can be good learners or players too i.e. Md. Amir. Though you can argue that they can be match fixers

LOL. Why are you talking about feelings all the time? You have to have thick skin to be in a public forum & your posts weren't even insulting
Anyway, you were talking about the relation between a player's education & learning skill. So Amir is definitely a great example of uneducated good player.

I don't like the idea of single man worshiping in the game of Cricket. This subject sounds better as award giving material.Yes Shakib al Hasan is undoubtedly the current most valuable player of Bangladesh Cricket Team( eventually in whole world at the moment IMO).But I would rather think about a balanced stronger team with full of average contributing players. Those were the days when we used to depend on single goat Mohammad Ashraful thinking that he could win match for us single handedly. A big mistake we did it seems now.The guy couldn't take that excessive pressure of short time stardom and fans' expectation and failed miserably match after match. If our selectors could take serious and bold decision of recruiting much better cricketer than Mohammad Ashraful before we would have been a descent team by now. Unfortunately its taking more time to be one !
After the arrival of Tamim Iqbal and Shakib al Hasan and few more promising youngstars like Zunaed Siddique,Mahmudukllah Riyad,Imrul Kayes,Shafiul Islam the scenario has been changed. There are now competition among the players to secure their respective lace in Top 11.Nobody is superstar alone. You cant perform you wont be selected no matter how popular you are.Players like Aftab Ahmed,Shahreer Nafees,Alok Kapali faced this judgment,Raqibul the retirement_dramatist got the answer too.''Go to hell, we don't need you unless you perform and behave yourself''.and therefore Today's Bangladesh Team is stronger than ahhem NewZeland !
So, Lets not get week at any individual Star.Be you are Tamim Iqbal or Shakib al Hasan. You play well motivate/let others in your team to play accordingly.WIN THE GAME.My support/love is always with you.
OR
Sorry, But I Cant help faaaaalling in LoooV E with you iff you are a LOSER !!

Cricket is not all about Bat & Ball. There are such things like spirit, discipline etc. Amir can't be an example.

Very well. Then take Md. Rafique as an example instead.
