I guess someone needs to tell Rutherford that Bangladesh is long past the days of living on ICC development fund, and that ICC is pumping money into countries that he mentioned, so there is no reason for him to worry.

I guess he does have somethings right. Bangladesh not playing to their potential means the New Zealand players arent tested and will therefore be absolutly hammered when Australia come here

^^ nzfan, your team would be hammered by Aussies regardless of whether Bangladesh toured or not.

did you see the one day series last time? In AUSTRALIA
it was 2-2 with us marching towards a win in the 5th game before they called it off
we always play our best cricket against Australia, I admit we don't stand a chance in tests but in one day cricket we are up there to be honest

agreed with nzfan, New Zealand before the World Cup 2007 even whitewashed the Aussies in a ODI series.

That is going to happen regardless Bangladesh finishes some matches positively or not.
Guptil, Broom, Redmond, The new opener, heck even Vettori will have hard time to vent off Pontings Sledging. The laughter will soon turn in to sour faces. Mckay is a great find. But Tuffey, Oram, Franklin will be tested.
I like Rutherford. I watched him play some good knocks. He is entitled to his opinions. Bangladesh deserves the criticism. The batting has been pathetic. Just look at the career average and this tour average.

Ok, I take it back. NZ have fighting chance against Aussies in ODIs and T20Is, but they will be hammered in Tests for sure.

I'm disappointed with your lack of knowledge tigers_eye expected more from you
Oram has one centuries against australia and guptill averages 35 against Australia which is more than any Bangladesh batsmen averages overall. As I said Australia are our rivals and our game picks up against them

I see a better Ross taylor and a menacing Oram but not sure about Guptil, his footwork is really sloppy.

In NZ we always lose badly because: we suck in NZ conditions for some reasons + the body language of Vettori and other big built players psychologically affect our players even before the match starts. Especially in the second match, it was the lack of intent from our top order that has made NZ blowers look more monstrous than they actually are.
Against Oz, NZ will enjoy neither of these advantages. And yes, NZ has always been competitive against Oz, but repeating such fight this time will be very tough, I predict. Because Aussie bowlers are enjoying the form of their life. And Australia suddenly found their continuous winning mojo back after the Ashes loss.

I am well aware of NZ's give it all performance against the Aussies. One of the highest run chases etc. However, I have been watching cricket for a long time. The way they are treating WI, finished off Pak (both had good bowling attacks) I don't think it would be pretty this time around.
Aussies weakest link is Haruitz. There is no weakness in their batting lineup and that is where NZ will be tested. We will see in fortnight time.

I am wondering, is NZ conditions really much different? I am happy to look for reasons but I don't know if they are the pitches that for example India had a few seasons ago when it was 100 vs 100 every match.
And yes, Australia will be too tough...

the pitches that were around in 2002 no longer exist. the pitches these days are flat since india won't tour here again if they arent and that is a massive loss in revenue

Completely agree with the author. Of course it'd be painful to see their status get taken away, but at least they will still get a lesson.
I suggest merge#1... :P (19 left)

This is true. So I can't believe that pitches can be blamed...
For me, I think Mo Ashraful needs to be given a wake-up call and finally dropped. Didn't Siddons say at one stage that he was going poorly but would not be dropped because there is no one else? That is a bad message to send....

Can't blame Rutherford there. No New Zealander wants us there, and we're just not up to the task of playing in their conditions. However I do love the fact that NZ believe they will be a challenge for Australia, even in their NZ conditions. With the way Australia's playing, I really don't see how NZ will put up much of a fight, unless they send a weaker team. Bangladesh is just making bowlers like Tuffey look like World class players due to their due to their major lack of skill in batting.

COLD...but kinda ..somewhat true.
but why invest in the canadian team ... only the brown people in canada care about cricket and ofcourse they`re way too into their own native countries. they would never be interested in watching Canada play. I dont think BD should have their status taken away but there should be a warning for the team. They really need to get their act together soon or that article [if any other people have read it] may affect our position.
