Default Leena Moin - Female commentator

For those who saw the live telecast on ten sports, would have been surprised to c a woman commentator.

Leena Moin is probably the 1st female cricket commentator in the world and (s)he wasnt a bad commentator at all.

Anybody knows how good (s)he is in commentary. (S)he had a decent cricketing knowledge.

Default I\'ve heard women commentate on cricket in 1995

The West Indians have a couple of women commentators, especially on radio. They are actually pretty good. I remember listening to the live radio commentary of Aus-WI in 1995 and everyone now and then, they'd throw in a woman commentator.

There is a big difference between someone who can describe what is going on in the middle, and someone who can provide insights into the technicalities. I think Leena Moin did fine with the former, but she lacks in the latter. She can say stuff like, 'nice shot, the batsmen are building a good partnership, if they have wickets in hand, they can push the score later, blah blah blah....' But she won't say stuff like 'the bowler has a problem with his follow through, his right arm is not going all the way through.....' For that, you need someone who has played the sport and understands the technicalities.

Amit is incredably sexest. You mightn't have picked it up but he believes that no women have cricketing knowledge and that's why it took lots of pursuision to prove that Fahmida is a FEMALE. And what's with the (s)he....you know it's a she so why the bracket? Are you questioning her or what?

Thanks to Tintin, I'm used to enjoying the "amitting" these days. I just couldn't suppress my urge of commenting on this female commentator. She annoyed the living crap out of me, and all the others who were watching it live on Banglacricket chat room. Boy! mute button is certainly handy at times.

Sham got it right, she was OK in describing the proceedings, but her comments are not normative, and for good reasons. I don't mind her continuing her commentary if she stops speaking like "Goot badding by Bonkhladheshi batsman". Amit, just because she said "The batsmen need to score runs quicker now, time is running out", doesn't mean she has good cricketing knowledge. Unless you're used to PS2 cricket games where even an edge to the fine leg boundary is greeted with an automated "Great shot by batsman" commentary.

PS: She also needs to stop saying "Yes Aamer, you're right" to start her sentences.

The female cricket commentator with technical knowledge of the game is a West Indian (name probably Dora or Doris something like that) who was one of the commentators from Sony Television (SET) in the last World Cup. She also commentates quite regularly when West Indies plays International matches (probably on Radio - ESPN Star has shown her first on TV doing commentary on radio).

Donna Symonds is an excellent commentator. West Indian, with sound technical insights, and very fluent style.

They have proper (??!!) female commentators now!!!

why am I stuck in the world of NO-CRICKET Broadcasting (that would be germany) in this time of excelling woman pioneering in the world of cricket??? WHY???

p.s. I am in now way a male chauvanist... I welcome the fact that sub-continental women are getting interested abt cricket nowadays... (or maybe from before, I dunno... just rambling now...)
