Let The Stats Talk
This is the batting table for the last nine bangladeshi innings. I'm doing it for only innings is because I want to show the performance of rana. So, I'm including the stat starting when rana came in the team. It is useless to add those practice match and the series against namibia where rana saved the face of the country and also the Zim A tour of bangladesh. This is just the pure innings of last ODI and test matches. First 3 are the test innings against zim, 3 odi against zim and 3 odi against WI.
The red letter are unbeaten innings. Could not use the (*) because excel can't calculate then.
I'm not adding the bowling here since we all know how he bowls. He is the second best bowler in the WI series and also did good in WI (a bit tired of making tables).

Thank you Agent Smith.
I was wrong.
I was arguing that he is the 3rd most important inform player in BD.
Your stats have proved beyond the shadow of any doubt that he's the number one right now.
I think Prothom Alo or whoever is talking about "No Rana" are just speculating. I can't imagine our coach or think tank could be stupid enough to rest him.

also, please note that even though rajin is the highest scorer (230) and rana is the second highest scorer (208), u have to keep in mind that rajin played 2 more innings than rana, and if rana could play 2 more times, he would have for sure added another 23 runs to exceed rajin.

this list only consists of the last 9 innings. probably rana played 1/2 innings before that. i'm not sure which matches are they. also, these 9 innings consists of both odi and test, so his average of odi/test will not match this one. its an average of both odi and test innings.

So far he played only 10 innings(2 tests - 3 innings & 7 ODI=7 innings) in his short international career. His total runs including test & ODI is 254. So his avg should be 42.33(including test & ODI) if u want to consider this.
btw total not out 4 times

Granted, rana has been awesome since his arrival, a breath of fresh air and literally done whatever the team has asked him to do. batting and bowling. someone said in another thread that he has been dropped because he dropped two catches. what a weird comment ! anyway..I think the pitch dictated his non-inclusion. The question to me, is he a better spinner than rafiq right now? if they thought he was, he would have played instead of rafiq. they have decided to go with three pacers and six specialist batsmen, I can respect that. Do they think enough of his batting? yes. otherwise he won't open in one dayers. Do they think enough of him as a test opener? Not yet. Thats where I believe rana can help himself, to apply himslef more and prove that he can be a test opener. He can do that by playing long innings in our ODI's. If he can do that, no one , no one will be able to drop him. we have two very brittle openers at the moment and those two spots are up for grabs. no3 to no6 will remain this way for a while and which is good for consistencies sake. In the end, i am happy in the sense that we are talking about someone not making it in the XI. pretty tough competition.
