Default Test for the next year (14 months)

So this confirms that we have 2 Tests scheduled in SL sometime next year (March I think). FTP had only listed ODIs but have updated it now. We also have a NZ series at home in Oct. If the tour to ZIM doesn't cancelled that means we have 8 tests between now and New Years 14, which isn't terrible. I think the BCB should start making some of these series 3 Test series at home, certainly NZ don't play as many and it should be easy to convince them.

There aren't too many gaps in the FTP where we can add additional tours, so the BCB should try to stretch the existing tours if at all possible.

If the three Tests are postponed, Sri Lanka only have four Tests scheduled between January and December in 2013, against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

BCB can always try and organize unofficial tests with Ireland and a number of G8 FC teams if they're serious about the long format. I don't think they are

those 3tests between Sa and sri are scheduled to be held in jul-aug. if those are postponed then there will be no cricket for team SA .bangladesh team will also be available at that time.hope BCB will arrange some cricket between SA and BD at that time.but its BCB and you cant hope anything good from them

Go to pakistan to play 2 ODI's and 1 T20.
Finish the whole thing in 4 days and come back.

But go only for two whole test series, back to back years.
3 test matches, 3 ODI and 2 T20 in each series.
One in Bangladesh, another in Sharjah/wherever beside Pakistan.

Here you can't really blame BCB...I hope they do this, but for extra tours, BCB has to be willing to host. Major sides already bitch about ratings and revenue and don't want to host us...so any additional tour must be in BD. This works to our advantage, start performing home, you might get invited to a few more parties.

But in summer months we have rain and can't host. During our good weather seasons, all other teams are busy. Therefore gaining additional tours is unfeasible and unrealistic. Bangladesh must expand existing tours to 3 Test and 5 ODIs. Every home series must have that. In between, play as much against ZIM, WI, NZ, SL as possible. On our day we could thump any of those sides in a Test. One win would greatly change our perception abroad.

No way. a) why should we be the sacrificial lamb? India-Pak relations are resuming, let India tour PAK first. After all, they are all allies and conspirators against BD. Let them bleed for each other. b) If you tour Pak for even an unofficial 5 over Jamaat club match they will demand you play every 5-Test series in Waziristan or SWAT. c) PCB are just trying to bully BCB as admitted by Ehsan Mani in a recent article.

^ You know, that is not going to happen. India or other big cricketing nations won't tour to resume cricket in Pakistan. It will be one of the smaller cricketing nations who are in need for international tours and matches.

Afghans I think have already toured for unofficial matches. Not sure if it was the first string AFG side tho. In any case, AFG is just about as dangerous as Pakistan and is basically the same country so biggie if they tour. Its like if the English toured Belfast during the IRA beefs.

That's one good thing I liked about the Siddons Era as atleast back then I wasn't that scared of our team playing in tests. Under his coaching we took almost all our tests to the fifth day despite our lack of a good bowling line up. In order to win in tests we got to have good pacers, off-spinners, leg-spinerrs or atleast spinners who can turn the ball. The only bowler we have is Saqib and that just isn't enough.

BCB have time to think about our cricket? They are busy with more important thing. Like after next year national election if the government change, what will happen?

This is more important than the gameplay of cricekt

Well when Australia travelled to Bangladesh in 2011, part of that series was supposed to include a 2 match test series but got cancelled for some silly reason probably for IPL. Before that in preparation for 2011 World Cup, Bangladesh where they defeated New Zealand 4-0, the series was also supposed to include a 2 match test series but got postponed till 2012 (still has not happened) for some reason so part of it is to be blamed on BCB for our lack of Test Cricket. But yeah I see no reason why Bangladesh cannot play Zimbabwe and New Zealand in a 3 match test series instead of 2 because honestly, both are performing just as bad at Test level.

I support this... We must go to Pakistan and play, it sounds risky but need to do this for the sake of our own development. the more matches we play we will improve more.. but just playing against the associates wouldnt help us... we saw the results in T20 WC. so for getting some extra matches pakisthan is the right choice..

Invite NZ or England, with a turning pitch and go in with spinners

BCB clearly doesn't trust our team playing tests with Ireland, we have trouble playing them as it is and a loss in a test would be beyond humiliation.

During summer time Bangladesh can host their matches in Zimbabwe, Ireland, England,

Right. Risking one's life for developing the team always is the right choice. BTW, would you volunteer to go with the team?

You know I don't get it, if Bangladesh wants to play more Cricket then arrange plenty of limited overs games against the top associates home and/or Away like we did in the tour of Europe earlier this year. That way we can also give some of our youths a chance and maybe you could even play a 4 day game it will only benefit the team. When we play teams like New Zealand and Zimbabwe everytime, instead of playing the proposed 2 tests against them, play 3 instead because all 3 teams are not doing well in that format. The ODI series should also be raised to 5 games rather than the customary 3 we unfortunately have.

We should be lucky with the amount of tests we got because we don't really deserve to play tests.

What makes you think that? care to explain?

We just finished a Test in which we we took a first innings lead, scored 500 plus, bowled out opposition for less than 300, had a realistic chance of winning, but lost in the last session of the 5th day.

In the next Test, we scored 387 runs and batted nearly 100 overs. If we can perform like this after playing a Test after 12 months, we definitely deserve Test status.

Some of our players are not Test class, but our fans are no better, if not worse.
