Default 'the selectors' are they really selectors

i have to admit the selectors of the national team are now seriously taking the piss out of the fans of Bangladesh. they are still continuing to select players who are not fully playing to thier best for example bashar, we all know he has not performed very well for one year, in fact he hasnt even scored a half century since the tour of Australia back in 2007, but somehow the selectors are still in favour of having these kind of under achieving (present) people in the squad for what reason we dont know, do they bribe the selectors to be in the team by paying Tk100,000,000 or what is the real reason - we must find out immediatly of what the selectors are doing here it is a serious matter which must be dealt with immediatly! fire the selectors before its too late.

oh no,i dont think bashar is related to them.u know what,it could be that maybe bashar kidnapped their wives and said I'll only return them till you let me play for as long as i want,i.e till i cant hold a bat anymore.he could have kidnapped siddons' gf too from the airport when she came to dhaka and that we he has siddon's on his side too!and maybe he keeps them in that gorur farm.

Is Bashar AL linked? I guess Pilot is BNP linked.

The current board is run by AL linked guys. Specially Lipu, Durjoy and Bobby ran for the parliament with AL ticket in the past.

So far I have heard from several sources, political ties is basis of selection these days.

If true, its vary unfortunate for us, the fans.

It is most unfortunate to hear somrthing from a mature poster like you. When Mushy got chance Pilot fans were suggesting his BNP connection. But ordinary fans supported his inclusion. Now a considerble fans are againest him. But still he is getting the nod. Can you explain?
Durjoy may select politically motivated. But Akram and Lipu - no. They put team before their interest.

'the selectors' are they really selectors

no they don't have any formal training. They were national players and that is the only criteria to be a selector.

You have no idea on who is supporting which political party.
Read the followings:
http://www.shamokal.com/details.php?nid=90403

We all know Durjoy's stance. You will find Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu, MA Alam Bobby, Akram Khan, Aminul Islam Bulbul all attaching themselves to AL. Why do they need to comment (or side with) on political matters? What does ex-sports personal has to do with politicians well being? (unless it is returing favor or pledging allegence.)

As said by Tigers_Eye, the only criteria is that they played for natioanl team.

I dont see this big fuss about selectors.
Every single country has/had a somewhat controversial selection panel.

Its a wide known fact about the "zonal" selections of indian cricket.
Its a wide known fact that Allan Border (ba***rd) cut short the cricketing life of Waugh twins.
You could only imagine what happens in pakistan.
South Africa got a wierd colour based selection process.
West Indian Cricket Board have been fighting the islandic divisions for years.
Its a common known factor that Durjoy's career was cut short by the past BNP govt.

This things been around for a long time.

So, i dont know whats this big fuss?

The current selectors are the most dumbest selectors that Bangladesh ever had. Naimur has become like a football and he should be kicked out from seletion panel. Aari Durjoy halar bhai tui diet control kor r tor bouer satthe bari boisa cricket khela dekh. Even Akram Khan( I respect this man ) doesn't have the quality to select the right players for the team but he played more international matches than Atahar and Faruk did..

Atahar and Faruk were the best selectors that Bangladesh ever had and most of the success came during their seletion period. Tamim, Nafees , Aftab , Reza, Rahim ( kebla, bhonda wicket keeper ) were picked up for the national squad while they were the slectors. Some how most of the players did very well and still doing well in the international cricket. Athar and Faruk used to select the players after observing them playing in U-19 team, doemstic league and A team. They used to maintain a good process of selecting the players for national squad.

On the other hand, Junaid, Sajidul, Mosharraf are not that good compare to those players. Juniad looks like a good batsman in the test cricket but in ODI he looks like a DUMB. Selectors didn't test them in the A team or developement squad for the longer period of time. They picked them up too early in the national squad.

this is really disappointing..i guess we fans just keep gettin frustated nd always find a way to blame sum1 for defeats.. i dnt c any reason for the selectors being blamed for the 1st odi...if we look at the selection...mushfiq is dropped based on form and tats wat we all wanted..mashrafe has also looked flat since the nz tour and he himself admits it and i dnt think bd can or shud keep givin chance to a non performin player. aftab is injured so sum1 had to b picked for his position..so rakibul was picked to strengthen the middle order..rubel was exception in bcb 11 game for which he was given a chance..shahadat was xtraordinary in test so deserved a chance as well..this is the rite team for me.. and i dnt think blamin the selectors for our incompetant batting will rectify the problems..so for those who r frustated keep bashing the selectors but this is not da solution...

These are more of sport politicians than real selectors. When they were playing for the national side , they would play for the 50 overs and scoring some 100+ runs. Ther most favourite balls were dot bolls. I have watched them all playing cricket from close proximity. Chief selector Rafique ul Alam used to appear on a Close Up toothpaste Tv ad in the late 80's where he was seen smashing a boundary off Wasim Akram ( BD vs Omar Qureshi XI).

stop it guyz .
after aus series how many matches he played.
ind he had to be picked.
sl he had to be picked (cant kick out ur highest scorer after 1 series)
nz he had to be picked (cant kick out ur highest scorer after 2 series, there waz no rafiq also, sr player quota stuff)
sa he had to be droped (he was after 1st test)

on top there would have been media out cry back home. look at the news papers today. they r questioning ymamu is droped. although he had to be droped if we play two seamers

I am calling for their head since NZ. They are competator of Aliul and co. Bring back Faruq and co. They may take bribe (?) but still their was logical selection unlike the present lot.

NICE !

We're back to comparing donkeys with mules, and baulods with sagols when what we really need is something with wheels for once. The engine can come later.

Parhar kiriket 'sensibilities', no matter how glorified, are simply not good enough for this level. The proof is in the numbers folks.
