I think it should be Ash.
Remember what Akram said, we flip-flop players too much and eventually make them unstable. Since we do not have anyone super qualified, we should try out Ashraful. This time he should be notified in advance that he will play in this position for 3 trours consistently and his performance will be judged after the tours.
Certainly not judged by the first or second match and be dropped after that for some silly reasons such as BCB boss's NATI do not like him, some coach stops talking to him casue he can not perform in all the positions.
He was destroyed by all these men. Whoever came into power, made ashraful as thier guinea-pig. He was made to play every single position, was in and out on every other game. Ash was such a good form just before he was made captian. When he lost forms, nobody even asked him what he wants, or which position he will be comfortable to play at. Such a waste of talent.

I am for Anamul. If not, Imrul is much better option seeing how Nazimuddin played against India and gave away his wicket against Pakistan.

Please do not destroy the career of a young prospect. Let him grow up. He is young and have time to serve the nation.

Both of them are actually hopeless case. They simply do not have that quality.

A performing Ashraful will be a great thing for BD cricket but he needs to sort out his issues, he has been performing like a tailender for past few years.

And Ashraful hasn't become a hopeless case (through a combination of the management and his own fault)?
Mark Gillespie, the NZ fast bowler, returned to international cricket after a 3 year hiatus, at the wrong side of 30 and took a 5-wicket haul immediately against South Africa. He was dropped due to fitness issues and bowling form and came back when he was ready. Ash still has some time on his side. Let him come back to a batting position and a format when and if he is truly ready - which may be in a couple of years time.

I would stick with Nazimuddin for now. We often don't give the players enough time to settle down and let them show what they are made of. Not everyone is Shakib, you know!

If SA dropped him he would have made his way back into team again because he is kallis.

Imrul got a very long run as opener.... Its only fair we give Nazimuddin a decent amount of games. Opening is a specialist position, what has Anamul done to warrant this promotion? He bats middle order and looks to be a better player in longer version considering his firstclass average. His list A average is poor (16.28) with only one fifty in 15 outings. Even in BPL he didn't open if my memory serves me right. I really don't understand how he makes a case as an ODI opener.

If Nazimuddin is to be dropped, then Imrul should come in. Again we shouldnt be giving caps to youngsters so easily. And we cant dump the experienced players.

Anamul shouldn't be fast-tracked into the playing XI. Way too young. Way too inexperienced. He's not even a proven performer in the domestic setup yet. He's promising, that's for sure. But so were all the Ashrafuls, Aftabs, Aloks, Tushars, Talhas, Rokons, etc, etc. We have burned through so much talent that it's mind-boggling. Have we learned nothing after all these years?

Give Nazim a fair shake. The more I see of Anam, the less I think he is ready. The kid is too immature and needs to grow up a bit before given grownup responsibilities. Mind you, he is very talented but all the cutesy Asharfulesque things he tried to do only proves that he still has baby fat. Not ready yet.

I wont go as far as to say replace Nazimuddin with Anamul just yet but has anyone noticed Nazimuddins footwork ? its worse than Junaid and Imrul combined. Heck its worse than club cricketers. I hope the lad does well but I have a ominous feeling he wont last long in the the team. And as for test XI, well that asks for a even better technically solid batsman.
And as for Anamul, I will stand by my previous statement that either play him at top or dont play him at all. I am sick of seeing top order batsmen starting their careers with bowlers to bat as company. It does not help them learn and neither helps them build the mental strength needed to take responsibility.

I have seen nazim's footwork and don't have a problem with it. It's easy to see he is more comfortable on the backfoot. There is nothing wrong with not having an extravagent forward movement and most predominantly backfoot players don't have that. Nazim will be strong in horizontal bat shots and less so on the drive. I liked how he played the spinners off the backfoot and cut/pulled fast bowlers. He has a double century if i am not mistaken in the first class competition and played very well in the test match against pakistan. To me he has potential in all formats and with only nine odi games you can't judge a player.

I think many players (shehwag coming in my mind) has already proven you dont need amazing footwork to succeed in international cricket. My only glitch is that often he looks off balanced playing backfoot, especially the short length good length deliveries. To those batsmen who dont move their feet well, its a question of maneuvering balance. But yes I am all up for giving him fair chances before jumping into any conclusion.

Again, I don't rate Nazimuddin that high, but I do believe he needs to get a full series - he didn't do that bad vs Pakistan, and it's just one match. So no, as much as I like to see Anamul in the side. Besides he has lots of experience in the domestics.
Though he should seriously need to improve on the footwork - I do think footwork is a bit overrated in subcontinent, but Nazimuddin's footwork is just appalling. Otherwise his technique is fine.

I think Nazimuddin opening with Tamim curbs out Tamims attacking instincts . Which is good . Tamim now plays more sensibly and knows he doesn't have to shoulder the responsibilities of big hitting when there is Nazim on the other side . That wasn't the case with Imrul kayes who wasted a lot of balls and put additional pressure on Tamim
So Yes , for this series , lets give Nazim another chance and see how it goes . Anamul , I dont think is ready yet .
