Haha, I'm a fan here too. They are upcoming and slowly getting better. As someone mentioned before, they do have the hitting power but when it comes to better sides they will be tested. Their opening pace bowlers are decent too, Hamid clocked 147 in the last game. Also rooting for them most importantly as they are Muslim wa-Lillahil Hamd.
Give them a few years with some proper coaching and they'll improve and be a threat.

I would actually want Afghanistan to go to the next round simply because they can make the game interesting and compete better then Zimbabwe. I have personally nothing against them.
As long as they open their mouth against us, and we keep thrashing them left and right..I wouldnt mind seeing them play more matches just due to sheer entertainment.
|
We run our mouths against Indians and Pakistanis. So I never understood why people got upset with AFG. Yes they dissed us in the last world cup, but we smacked em bluer than their jerseys. It was all good entertainment.

Alot of my good friends are Afghan. I'm not sure where you live but the one's I know, alot of them know how to play cricket. In fact a brother that I know was one division under playing for Victoria U/19's, he recently came back from England playing club cricket but was getting paid. I remember even in school when we used to play, alot of them were generally big hitters and quick. Alot of that has to do with their size, well at least most Pashtuns are big and tall in stature.

Dawlat gets a wicket with a 144kmph yorker. Their opening bowlers are more explosive than I thought.

My friend is a Pashtun, Safi tribe, pretty sure he was born here in the US. His family are very progressive...both of his parents are doctors, his dad drinks alcohol, lol. Yeah my friend is 6'2" and very athletic.

Not sure why you guys think that was a clean catch. It looked like he didn't have fingers under the ball and it hit the turf. Also, benefit of doubt should go to the batsman.

I predicted earlier that teams who can't play spin will be troubled by this guy. He'll play SL, SA, Eng and WI now. He has a good chance of success in the latter two.

Lol he must be a good friend, you even know his tribe! Ah, the U.S... no surprise then haha. I'd assume the only people that know how to actually play cricket or follow cricket there are people from the subcontinent (Ind, Pak, Ban). Lol yeah, some of them are like that.. the ones here, majority are conservative. Even among the youth here you'll find many attached to the Mosques - when I moved to an Islamic school majority of the people were Afghans, also I must say when it came to cricket they were very competitive.

My MY whats the ICC going to do with Zimbabwe, this deserves a thread.
Out of last t20 world cup only just, but smashed out now, smashed at the last world cup,and beaten by Ireland.
No wonder Zimbabwe only plays tests against bangladesh,no one else will play them.
Tell me why they get 8 mil and Afghanistan and Ireland get only 500 thou.

Congrats to Afghanistan. You'd have to say nowadays they're a better team than Zimbabwe. They beat them consistently. They'll be a tough opponent in the next round

Support Afghans because they are muslims? Haha. What a load of bull crap. Only if people knew how they treat us in Arab countries.

I thought benefit of the doubt goes to the fielder. Remember Mahmudullah cath in the WC. Oh I forgot, it is only when India is fielding

Benefit of doubt goes to the fielder in touching the ropes case.

The ICC has clarified that the benefit of doubt will be granted to the fielder in cases of inconclusive evidence over contact with the boundary rope while completing a catch or effecting a run-out.

Yup, tweaked in 2006 to twist the event in 2015.
