haha so true. I remember this uncle of mine was going abroad and 10 of us went to the airport with him. We even managed to acess to the runway because we knew someone who worked there. We were checking out the runway for like a good 20-30 min.

Went there in '09 after about 7 years. My experience upon arrival was great. We took Emirates, and were out of the airport in 20/25 mins. In the plan we made friends with this aunty who had hookups (we didn't know until we landed...when she had someone from the airport come greet her from the plane!)...and we ended up following her and going to the international immigration line even though I had a Bangladeshi passport. Mind you, with a non-Bengali bou, it was a maan ijjot er proshno - and it was terrific.
On the way back, we were haggled a lot due to overweight in 3 out of 4 luggage. There are dalals who work openly to get your luggage past the check-in counter. All they do is jam the scale by putting some paper underneath it so that it holds up. If your luggage actually weighs 30 kilos, it'll read way less...like 20 kilos! I didn't realize it until I hired a dalal, who said he'll help but only came by once...so I fired him, and he came and removed the paper. I noticed it, and took it to my advantage...used my shoe to jam the scale and pretending to not notice what was going on...and only ended up paying overweight fees for one of the luggage. The airport security came by and yelled at me...I said "oh sorry what happened I don't know I was just standing here"...and after they went away, I did it again
Unfortunately, you cannot be a shidha shadha manush and experience a hassle-free trip. You will need to learn some tricks to work with these.

Anyone survived the Sylhet Airport experience, I mean, without being beaten up senseless by the "security" or airport "officers"?

Last time I went to BD at 2009, I lost my luggage then I "dalal" helped me out to find my luggage. He demanded money and I gave him 10 pound.
But it was good though. No immigration no custom.
I was in Etihad. So thelathali started before plane landed. lol

^ Really? oh wow I didn't expect that. I bet all the BC members that will be going to BD next month will be bitching in this thread while they wait in those long lines.
I have this 'mama' who can make things happen. When my mom and my brother went to BD couple years ago, this 'mama' managed to get my mom and my brother off the line and moved them all the way to the front.

Really? My last trip was Dec-Jan this year and I did not see any WiFi signal coming out of the plane and up to the immigration counters. Didn't check if there was any signal past immigration.
