Default Sabbir's national contract terminated

No more a national player (Edit: Seems like he can still play for national team)

Bangladesh batsman Sabbir Rahman has been stripped off his BCB central contract as punishment for assaulting a fan during a first-class match. Sabbir will also be fined Tk 20 lakh ($25,000 approx), the BCB president Nazmul Hassan said.

Can someone clarify if Sabbir still available for the national team?

Even though his national contract got cancelled?

yes he is. if there is no ban or suspension BCB can still select players from outside national contract. its that his national contract is canceled. that means he wont get the monthly salary from BCB and he is not obliged to play for BD if BCB selects him.

by the way god awful thread title, I thought sabbir died. Please change it

I guess that is good news for Bangladesh?
Would that mean he might be selected for the national team tri series?

I don't know how to change it.
I felt Sabbir career is over, so titled sabbir is no more. You can change it.

^^ I wouldn't consider Sabbir as a dead wood but it would be a huge blow to our T20 and ODI selections. Nevertheless, it is a fair call given that he had been punished twice already and learnt nothing from his mistakes. I hope he thinks about his action in the coming 6 months and come back to the team.

MAn, whats with all these kids? Fame comes with both fans/haters. Gotta learn to deal with them mentally, not physically.

Would make no sense to can his contract, suspend him from domestic matches and still select him for the national team but this is BCB and maybe they were very specific with this punishment so if they wanted they had a loop hole to still select him..

The whole point is to attack in his pocket and let him feel the pain. But I dont understand.. domestic cricket is where they should learn and polish their skills to play for the national side.. So he will be missing any cricket for a while in domestic.. just like Ashraful he will again have to start (although time period is short)... but letting him to play only internationals means just like BCB is whipping off the top cream if any from him until he is short of to produce any more juice and throw him away. He doesnt seems to be matured yet and I dont want another incident to happen with him while he plays intl cricket. For example he could be an easy target for the bookies considering his financial and emotional status... Send him to a rehabilitation centre for a while until he returns to all forms of cricket..

How great,

The Adventures of Ball-Scratcher and Child Beater: The Resurgence.

Thank god, that poser Sabbir is out of BD cricket. Never saw a player throw his talent away like him.

Think he got off lightly tbh, a horrible criminal offence and he gets away with just a contract loss and some suspension time from domestic cricket. The man beat a child.

I don't comment much here anymore.
But he did the wrong thing with the person in the crowd, its not acceptable.accept his ban.
For what he did was unforgiveable,if I am reading it right.

You’re a good poster, unfortunate that you don’t post as much anymore. I agree, sounds like what he did was unforgivable.

Just don't post much in cricket forum much.Except the ICC under 19 world cup.
You can't accept altercations with the crowd.
Look at Mark Vermulsen threw cricket bat at the crowd, then burnt down the Academy then called black ppl monkeys.Disrespectful.
1 anomaly may lead 2 another.

His Oscar commercial has a whole new meaning now. It was an ominous sign of things to come.

Just to name a few .... Talent wise

Jessie Ryder > Shabbir and his ghola chokh.
KP, Flintoff, Symond, Russel, Rokibul, Shahadat, Ashraful; there is actually pretty big list who threw away their talents.

Slowly the culture is changing. Beating up kids by elders use to be (Dud-bhat) normal. Especially if there is a distinction in class/status. Discipline. There is a saying in Bangla. Mair'er upor oshudh nai. "There is no better medicine than beating up".

some fans cross their limit too

still players should behave and learn how to accept criticism

i think 1 crore fine is too harsh for his family, not sure how rich is his family and banning 6 month from all cricket is destroying his career

also would like to know how severe was his beating.

threatening umpire is not acceptable at all
