Clarkey is simply too good. Ever since he become captain he has been scoring runs heavily.

At 37, Ricky Ponting fields better than most 19 years old. Although he made a duck his contribution in the team was noteworthy through out the test match. He was helping the bowlers specially younger ones with encouragement and advice. He also reportedly helps the young batsmen a lot in the nets. Michael Clarke acknowledges his contribution quite often. Despite being a mentor to the young players, Ponting never made it awkward for Clarke. He always let Clarkey run the show. truelegend

Btw, Australia will miss having a quality spinner in the Adelaide test.

clarke will become a legend in 4 years. In those early times when Australia boasted such top players, one player named michael clarke was one of those very few youngsters who got plenty of chances in the team and now is a superb player. However, since the retirement of several aussie players the team looks weak and out of sorts. Guys like wade, maxwell, forrest are inexperienced.

lol, Lyon has a far better record in tests than Imran tahir and Harbhajan. And lyon has mostly bowled only on unhelpful pitches. Still he averages only 29. He will really troubly SA if the pitch turns a bit.

Clarke is by far best test batsman currently, no one close to him. Averaging 115 with 1041 runs and 3 double hundreds this year.

64.6 Morkel to Clarke, FOUR, Clarke is dealing South Africa a series of haymakers here. He moves past 150 with a stunning straight drive, moving forward to drill a full ball right past the bowler. Morkel looks listless

64.5 Morkel to Clarke, FOUR, Morkel has been dismantled. Clarke moves forward to a length ball and plays a punchy straight drive that beats the diving fielder at mid-off

64.4 Morkel to Clarke, FOUR, more width outside the off stump, Clarke cuts again, finer this time to the backward point boundary. South Africa are reeling like a swooning boxer

64.3 Morkel to Clarke, FOUR, just too short and too wide, Clarke stays in his crease and cuts hard to the point boundary.

64.2 Morkel to Clarke, no run, played off the back foot with an open face to point

64.1 Morkel to Clarke, FOUR, Clarke has laid into Morkel, moving forward to a length ball and lofting on the up, through the line and over extra cover

Morne Morkel comes back for another spell
----------------

Clarke is creaming the Saffers there.
Pure class and supreme form.

The rise and rise of Michael Clarke has been one of the most heart warming story for me.
I've been a huge fan of him since his early days of playing state cricket for NSW and have followed his career very closely, starting from his debut century in India.
Its so great to see someone with such potential could actually convert into something so strong tangible and now on his way to become one of the best cricketer of his generation.
All time ?? Only time could tell and he's got plenty on his side to move up the ranks.
50+ test batting average is certainly a good start on that.
