Default Prediction Thread: Will Ashraful survive in the team to play wc'11

The rate at which Ashraful is going (only doing well when his back is on the wall), do you think he will survive like this in ODI team till world cup? Remember ICL players will be available. Given the recent form of some of our players and if they consistent, I think Ash's place is up for grabs...

Even though we're a year and a half (?) away, I think BD needs to start building the WC ODI team now.

Personally, I would rather have Aftab in the team with his quickfire 30 than have one century (if he hasn't already hit it by the WC) and out Ash. Since we're hosting all our first round games (I'm guessing thats our six games), we must beat the two associates and win at least 1 or 2 of the other matches. If Tamim and Shak can hit the centuries and Roquibul and Mushfiq can give the half centuries and the rest can score the 20-30s as needed, I don't see Ash being around in the team.

yeah I know... we gotta have a unit like we had in 2007. that's why I opened this thread. In fact I would support any chopping or whatever right now as opposed to 8 months from now...

Our future games against stronger teams are so important. Ash is still proven against them. So his demise depends more on how other players fare against stronger opponents.

dont understand, why people think ICl er great players.

only aftab was regular that time.

most score they make against weak players (senior citizen and discarded)
against big time like lahore badshah--they collapsed badly.

even performance wise, kapali, nafees--did ok, rest are not even in top 20 list
among the bowler--only rafiq and mosharraf rubel are in the top 20, rest are not even in 50 players list.
so why so much fuzz about them/

bashar didnt even make 30 runs alltogether in 9 matches

he probably will survive, whether he should or not is another thing. ashraful is just too experienced to allow him to only score runs when his spot is in jeopardy, if he can't step up then we need to find someone who can. tamim and shakib have proven we don't need ashraful to win, this gives us more of a chance to experiment with the team if necessary.

None of the option. What Ashraful did for us up to now, is definitely excellent. But how can we say whether he will play in WC 2011 where it is to happen after 2 years almost.

If he is in form after 2 years and can hold his position than he will play. If he is dropped now than he will always have chance to come back by performing in domestic level.

We have to wait to have this answer for 1.5 years.

Ashraful is ASHRAFUL, Best of the best BD has ever produced. So there should be no questions about him untill WC 11. Yet, No one had done like him in BD cricket and he is maturing now. So we should live him alone to perform his best.

I voted that my prediction is that he will probably survive. But having said that, we don't seem to need Ash for every single win nowadays. In fact we are winning most without him. This translates into Ash needs to perform to stay. Else goodbye Ash!

Very tough question. Only Ash himself can answer this question. No one else!!!

He will survive. But I doubt we will see any better consistency from him between now and then.

When Ash scores a double century in a T20 against India (loves batting against them) no more threads of this kind of taunting nature would be necessary.

"No, we will get an Ash-free team" equates to "No, we will get an Eid-free team"!

Does he need an Aussie passport to be in the team? If not, he will be there I guess.

He will score a century every time his place in the team in jeopardy, not to be heard again until his place in the team in jeopardy again. He will survive...
