Default \"Shyamol Chaya\" makes it to the Oscar

Anyone watched it? After reading the story, it is my impression that it is something similar to "Mr. and Mrs. Iyer" (sp).

No, it is not like Mr and Mrs Iyer. I have watch the movie. It is actually a good movie on our liberation war. The story line is a group of people who are fleeing to India for safety by boat. There were people who are pro pakistani and people who lost son and husband by the Pakistani army. On there way the meet and fought Rajakar, had a close call with pakistani army and then decided to fought the war to the best of thier capabilty

It's probably the worst movie of Humayun Ahmed. His first 3 movies were very good. Since "Dui Duari" his standards started to go downhill. "Chandrakotha" was bad, this is even worse.

His recent TV dramas weren't good either.

The movie has several bad elements in it. And they are:

1) Bad direction
2) Repetitive stupid (often vulgar) jokes
3) Poor Screen play
4) poor acting by the girl and the moulana
6) sorry screenplay

overall rating: 0 out of 10

I've owned this movie for a while now, so, can't resist the temptation to share:

Just like Humayun Ahmed's books, the movie is very linear. A simplistic, single-dimensional story.

Cinematography is just as bad as any other Bangladeshi movie.

On average, he takes a pot shot at muslim or Islam every 3-4 minutes throughout the movie. Humayun's deep-rooted grudge for being born a muslim is nakedly expressed here. Although I must say, this is an essential element for winning any kind of international award these days. He's going to rack up some points for those.

Directing - if this movie gets screened at the Oscars, I'll be very surprised if people do not get up and leave. Directing is behind by a good 50 years.

Acting: Never steps outside the boundaries of our theatrical roots.

An excellent movie to demonstrate to the world that we are the lowest of the low, just like the ever self-critical Humayun is in his books. So much success, so little self-respect.

bangladeshi movies are usually disgusting. I dont mind some which have some kind of moral behind them. But really, they should be banned, as they are an eyesore and sometimes so stupid that they defy both logic and strain my mental abilities to the lowest they have ever been.

Really? Wow! And you say you owned the movie. By the way, did you WATCH it or left it in the shelf?

When he took "pot shot at muslim or Islam every 3-4 minutes throughout the movie"? Actually to my resentment, I found complete opposite. He made actually the mullah [Riaz, I believe] the virtual hero of this movie. I remeber telling my friend, this is very bad, it is just giving wrong message to the people, completely giving reverse idea about Jamaat Islami role in 1971. BTW, I am not saying every Dari-Tupi means Jamaat but you get the idea.

Are we talking about the same Movie?
