Default Chappel is probably losing India job

Here's a news from a quite reliable website on India Cricket

Quote:
First casualty: BCCI sacks Chappell

By Tapan Joshi | Saturday, March 24, 2007

Sharad Pawar-led Indian cricket Board has refused to take the blame for the team’s shameful performance in the 2007 World Cup. Instead, it has just shot down the first victim.

Axe has fallen on coach Greg Chappell, who has been informed that his contract will not be renewed. The former Australian skipper’s contract with the Indian team ended with the game against Sri Lanka, which Rahul Dravid’s men lost by 69 runs.

Said a top BCCI source, “The formal announcement will be made by Board president Pawar in a few days’ time but we have conveyed our feelings to the players and also to Chappell. He has been told that he can pack his bags.”

Rahul Dravid was also appointed skipper only till the World Cup and his fate hangs in balance. Dravid himself admitted that he is no longer the skipper. There is intense anger in India, and heads were bound to roll.

So, they decided not to wait for the result of BD-Bermuda match !

BCB better start looking for a replacement for Whatmore.

I am 90% sure that Whatmore and Moody will be shortlisted for the Indian job, may be also for the English job. I am just saying BCB need to think ahead so that they don't have to make any rush choice if DW decides to move on, we have very little time in between world cup and the India series.

"he has been told that he can pack his bags" - that's so rude. that's no way to treat an employee.

then again, what can one expect from the bcci?

BCCI is pretty angry, they got kicked where it hurts the most. I just hope they will keep their claws away from our coach.

Chapell was brought into India with a purpose and a mission, and he failed miserably to go anywhere near that mission.

what a drama, in the end Ganguly has the last laugh.

I am actually happy to see the way BCCI is treating Chappell, all the high profile foreign coaches should be discouraged to take up the Indian job after this kind of act. May be India team will come to Bangladesh with Mohinder Amarnath

Chappell should finally find some peace. He did a thankless job for spineless people. I feel sorry for anyone having to do his duties under Sharad Pawar

The expression on the faces of the indian players really hurts, i honestly feel deep sympathy for them especially Dravid. also felt the same from the expression on kamran akmal, rao iftekar and others. it feels that they just lost someone close and are at the end of their life in desperation.

why is sports so emotional???

Who cares if Chappel loses his job or not.. and Dravid loses his captaincy.. does it really matter to BD cricket.. no.. Lets just think about BD cricket.. Indian Cricket deserved this.. They always brag to be the richest Cricket board in the world.. and really proud of their existance.. they deserved it.. They forgot that Cricket is a gentlemen's game.. to them its a money making industry.. its not just a game for them.. BD cant attract crowd so BD wont play for in india.. what kinda sportsmanship is that?

Now, Chappel was not happy about the yeam selection and wanted more youngsters.

Quote:
India coach Greg Chappell's month-old SMS to a journalist expressing his dissatisfaction over the World Cup team has created a furore, days ahead of a meeting at which the squad's cup disaster will be discussed.

Sharad Pawar, president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has called a working committee meeting in Mumbai April 6 and 7 to discuss India's shock first-round exit from the World Cup in the West Indies.

The team is yet to return from the West Indies.

In the text message sent to Rajan Bala on Feb 17, essentially praising an article written by the veteran cricket writer, Chappell wrote that he wanted more youngsters in the 15-member team but senior players had resisted his demand.

'Even in the last (World Cup) selection meeting, I fought for the youth. Senior players fought against it,' Bala read out the message from his mobile phone in front of several television channels.

The message was sent five days after the squad was picked for the World Cup.

Once this is out there the current selectors would go with the senior players eventually or would have to sack them all, lol. "I like it, I love it, and want some more of it...."

Looks like nobody wants to take responsibility... and go with dignity..... now the fistfight will start.... the weaker one will be forcefully thrown out (Gola dhakka) ....and the more cunning one will survive for now.... but for how long?

That will be in episode III.

Imagine Dav going with us to BD from the world cup and later on coming to BD with India .. oh NO!! Seriously..that wouldnt be a good mental thing for our players. BCB should try and keep whatmore..maybe some extra $$.

BCCI can appoint NANHO or AMINUL ISLAM BULBUL as their coach.
They said they dont want superstar players from their time.

Chapel will be the scape sheep (Goat?) and rest will continue.
Entire chain will support each other, or else there will be many casualty. BCCI and Sellectors (Veng) have already started down playing the issue--- "It can happen in any game". Veng Sh... said that, India will win 9 out of 10 times against BD, that was one odd day.

Interesting to watch................

Interesting observation indeed. Out of the last four ODIs we played against India, we won two of them. Is not it about time India starts to recognize us a team of equal strength (at least when India team is not at home) ?
