Default Facebook and Bhalobasha - Deshi lover boys

Social media is where deshi guys act in the most cringeworthy manner.

"01717515646..call me plz" "apnnke onk chundor lagse" "balo bashte cay" and comments like these are plenty and everywhere.

So it is so weird that a national newspaper publishes articles (with pictures) of love over social media. But it is like a guilty pleasure and I do enjoy reading about them. To read about my fellow deshi lover boys.

These following lover boys are wooing bideshi lolonas and convincing them to fly down to BD

Exhibit A (BD / Malaysia)

প্রেমের টানে মালয়েশীয় তরুণী টাঙ্গাইলে

http://www.prothom-alo.com/banglades...A6%B2%E0%A7%87

Exhibit B (BD / Thailand)
প্রেমের টানে থাই-কন্যা বাংলাদেশে

http://www.prothom-alo.com/bangladesh/article/1184541/

Exhibit C (BD / Brazil)

ফেসবুকে প্রেম, ব্রাজিল থেকে তরুণী রাজবাড়ীতে

http://www.prothom-alo.com/bangladesh/article/1133871/

And the common theme in all of them --

I have to say its very heartening to see that most of the comments on the PO articles are very positive. Mostly well wishers, not criticizing the boys or their girls. Good to see.

They must have good game for the girls to come all the way to BD. The Brazilian and Malaysian girls are pretty cute too.

I agree with this analysis.... the great humayun ahmed made a great living out of selling similar fantasy to poor Bangladeshi young men .

if you think about it what kind of a hero is a yellow Punjabi wearing guy without a Job but gets all the rich girls to fall in love for him ??

reality is Rich girls don't talk to losers like himu who drinks chaa at the corner store ....it's a fantasy

I may need to re-think my strategy now.

I think it's coz Himu has an aura..a mystery surrounding him. That's why it's intriguing.

In one of the books, a girl falls in love with Himu. He also starts to develop feelings but at the very end decides not to tell her and just walks away. Karon shey himu! Prem bhalobasha shudu shudhu manush ke ek jagay aboddho kore rakhe! I think I still live life with that philosophy.

Life is too evolutionary to spend with the same person forever.

One thing I have noticed is that the average Bangladeshi takes facebook way too seriously than the average person in the US or the UK. It's almost as if their whole life is on facebook with the constant, deep, long-*** status updates, selfie uploads. It's almost as if everyone thinks they are a celebrity on Facebook and people are clamouring to get their real-time thoughts on life.

It's the same in the US/UK. Let's not kid ourselves.

IMO Facebook is a platform in Bangladesh that is making the people especially the youngsters more stupid, materlistic, pervereted and act more like drama queens.

And you can see how easily they can be manipulated. When France was hit by terrorism people showed solidarity by coloring their profile pic with the franch flag, when LGBT got they right to marry they colored their profile picks rainbow. When something happens in Bangladesh or other non savy issues, they dont normally care.

ummm profile after profile atm is 'stop killing the rohingya', not to mention - when the govt was going to impose VAT on private university fees - students used fb to organize protests (protests that ultimately led to the VAT idea being discarded)

Fb has been used to raise tons of money for needy people (no GoFundMe here) and not to mention, facebook has been a God send for emergency blood.

As for how easily people can be manipulated....retards in the UK were manipulated by social media campaigns on Brexit - that were flat out lies and I won't even mention what people in Russia did to the US elections via social media (something Facebook is now actively trying to fight).

Overall the impact of Facebook on Bangladesh is negative imo. Especially when it comes to a social aspect.
