Gross domestic product (GDP) refers to the market value of all final goods and services produced within a country in a given period. It is often considered an indicator of a country's standard of living :P

The GDP per capita of Sri Lanka is much higher then Bangladesh's which is what is more important in my opinion. Also their cricket board is not nearly as bad as ours. Their a lot more organized then ours is. So our leagues are not comparable to theirs.

So we are judging the strength of a country's cricket teams by GDP now?
How come Pakistan, SL, WI & maybe even India had more success than England/NZ in the past despite being much poorer countries? GDP factor? When WI was dominating world cricket their players came from poorer regions unlike english/aussie players at the time

It seemed like it didn't matter back then, but now it seems that it matters more. Of course, you can bring up the argument that why is Australia and NZ declining despite their economies doing so well. I don't think it tells the whole story but it does give a little picture.
India as a country is on the rise economically and it seems their cricket has as well. It makes sense also, they're a cricket crazy country, they have a huge population, they pump in money for the domestic competitions etc. We might not like the IPL, but its been a big hit so far looking at it financially. They have a system that keeps on developing good players.
You look at Pakistan on the other hand, as a country, their going downhill and so is their cricket. The disorganization is absolutely killing them politically and as a cricket nation. Seems their is no planning going on and too much indiscipline. Players are match fixing, retiring and unretiring etc.
And look at us. The economy of BD is getting a little better but still a lot of petty politics goes on and it happens in our cricket. Disorganization also is so evident. If it happens in politics then it will happen in sports as well.
Teams like Aus and NZ are not doing that well now due to the lack of quality now but not because of politics. In Pak, WI, and BD, its just killing the cricket. By the way, sorry for derailing this thread, just wanted to clear things up.

Well, GDP has to be taken into the account of the population. 20 million sharing less is better than 160 million sharing slightly more.

Playing for your country is more important than playing for any PL's t20 , national team should be the main priority at first ... so lets c how it goes and how the schedule will go..

It was a very short tournament. One week guess, One stadium and just max 7 matches for a team
The highest salary was paid to Shoaib Akhtar:- 18000$

In theory, the player who has scored the countries highest score, and owns 3 of the highest 4 is needed. If it wasn't for him, we would of never chased 313... How it is relevant is Bangladesh need Tamim to play in Zimb, not this SL T20 thing.

I have no idea where this 'report' originates but with a BD tour to Zimbabwe LEAVING towards the middle to end of July, national training camps preparing the players for Test matches before that, and fitness regimes being implemented from June 1st by Grant Luden, it's just a non-starter, IMO.
Can you imagine any player getting injured at a 'made up' SLCT20 before the biggest 7 months in BD cricket with 5 series (Test and ODIs) being planned against Zim, WI, Eng, Pak and SL?
However, with the ZIM series as a priority in less than 40 odd days, you can work it out for yourself.

I sense in the tone that these comments have personal involvement as opposed to pure speculation as a fan/supporter. Sounds like something may have progressed with your application for head coach
Hopefully after this year with all the series' planned we will also focus on the WC T20 in SL next year. The format (with international significance) is only 4 years old and I already feel like we've fallen behind on this format as well.

I read on the daily ittefaq that Ian wasn't amongst the names short listed... I could be wrong though.
