Lol. Just picture me as a stud. That will do justice.

I HATE making top ten lists. Too many to count.

Office Space probably makes sense to everyone who has ever worked in an office setting in North America; more so to people in the software industry. I have a TPS report (filled out, if I may add) printed off the internet lying around on my desk at work.

have to disagree with you there, I think Godfather 1 is the better film, in particular the scenes in Italy with Pacino, I just think it's near perfect. However Godfather 2 is a great film too, but Godfather 3 not so much.

.................................................. ..........................

It's pretty much impossible to pick a top 10 and most of the my favourites have already been listed. Here are some of my faves that I think haven't been mentioned yet (apologies if they have):-

Adaptation (probably my personal favourite),
Being John Malkovich (yeah I'm a big Charlie Kaufman fan)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Oldboy (nearly flawless)
Trois Couleurs Trilogy (difficult to pick a favourite but I'd probably pick Red then White then Blue),
City of God (much better than Slumdog Millionaire)
Tropa De Elite
The Big Lebowski ("Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man")
Mulholland Drive (warning: may cause headache)
Reservoir Dogs
Pulp Fiction
La Haine
Irreversible
Dogville
Leon
12 Angry Men
The Third Man
Glengarry Glen Ross (So many great actors share the screen in the classic)
Memento
Taxi Driver
Full Metal Jacket
2001: A Space Odyssey
Platoon
Alien
Gladiator
Dirty Pretty Things
Secrets and Lies
Closer
Layer Cake
Lost in Translation (does this count as a chick flick?)
Little Women (this must count as a chick flick)
The Usual Suspects
Seven
Sin City
Trainspotting
Chinatown
LA Confidential
Once Upon a Time in America
The Manchurian Candidate
American Psycho
25th Hour
Annie Hall
Team America
Battle Royale
Kung Fu Hustle
The Lives Of Others
Salaam Bombay
Pakeezah (what a song "Inhi Logon Ne" is, beats any Bollywood soundtrack)
Pather Panchali (Satyajit Ray- a true artist)

Couldn't rein myself back from mentioning this movie:
Three Extremes http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0420251/

This is a horror trilogy with excellent dramatization made by three Asian directors, namely Fruit Chan, Takashi Miike and Chan-wook Park. Those who didnt watch it yet may go for it. Its worth watching this, I assure you

I must be the liberal one -right? Although, I prefer not to be put in a box and try hard not to do it to others. But if you must have a mental visualization of the person behind the nick BanCricFan then think Fun-da-mental-east.

Slumdog should not be compared to City of God. I wouldn't have watched Slumdog if it wasn't on the lists of a few posters here. Quite disappointed and baffled as to why it got so many Oscars!

Btw, great list. Pretty much have seen most of them. Hope to see the ones have not seen yet at my leisure. Also, it would be interesting if you could come up with top 10 from your list.

I'll shamelessly admit that I went through a Pride and Prejudice marathon all alone while I was in college. They also used to show Far from the Madding Crowd on CBC back then which I used to watch when I could ~ didnt get to be a 'hit' such as P&P, but it was a very well done series in its own right.

Absolutely no shame attached to watching PP...just like, Devdas (Dilip/Shuchitra). Quintessential socio-cultural dramas of highest order.

I ought to revisit some of the Merchant/Ivory productions again, time permitting.

That was meant as a compliment.

As for the nicks, the confusing aspect is when I try to reconcile a recent post with my mental image of the general world view of the person. Oftem, I will be thinking to myself, "wait, this is in direct contradiction to what he posted just a day or so ago" and then it'll dawn on me that the post was by BanCricFan and not BanFan and .... It is not that I am wont to label or compartmentalized posters but understanding the person you are talking to as a good prerequisite to have a good conversation.

Straying back on topic. Great movie conversations?

My random list

- Before sunset
- Princess Bride - battle of wits, and most dialogue actually
- Pulp Fiction - opening scene
- Morgan Freedman's narration in Shawshank redemption
- When Harry met Sally - the orgasm scene
- Conversations between Hannibal Lecter and Clarice in Silence of the Lambs
- Final courtroom conversation (? Can I call that a conversation?) between Nicholson (Col Jessop) and Cruise (Lt Kaffee). In fact the Nicholson speech starting with "You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in ... " is one of the most riveting speech in any movie I had seen.

^Speaking of some good monologues:

-Will Hunting about not working for NSA
-Al Pacino's closing scene in Scent of the Woman
-Opening scene of Travolta in Swordfish
-Heath Ledger in various parts of Dark Knight
-And a recent de Niro one from Limitless (regardless of your views on the film the monologue hit the right notes):
