We, as a people, have become so unaccustomed to receiving justice from a court system, that we have not developed a culture of accepting judgments or understanding that the point of a judicial proceeding in such complex, unique matters is not to deliver a certain sentence but to determine guilt. If people are convinced that his guilt was established on strong grounds, then that will go much further in making all that he stands for repugnant and abhorrent - more so than just killing the individual but leaving his 'ideas' to fester.

On a related note, people who voted for AL in the last elections on the basis that they would try war criminals, did you expect that they would sentence everyone charged with war crimes/crimes against humanity etc to death?

Not really. I meant most of us in BC are living in abroad for long time. I doubt the number of people who were in Bangladesh during election time and actually cast their vote.
