Ideal BD Playing XI for next match
As the thread title suggests, let this be the thread during the WC for discussing our best playing combination for the next upcoming match . So on Feb 18, this should be the playing 11 based on what the practice matches have hinted so far. Ireland warm-up game can change this, but I doubt there will be a significant performance in the last warmup from those players I have excluded in this line-up
Tamim
Soumya
Mushfiq
Mahmudullah
Shakib
Nasir
Sabbir
Mashrafe
Sunny
Rubel
Taskin
Mominul, Anamul aren't looking convincing with the bats. Nasir and Sabbir should be there. Sunny over Taijul. Back Sunny to come good with his domestic experience, although he had a forgettable outing against pak. Should be preferred over Taijul because of former's experience and latter's really mediocre bowling.
We got 4 seam bowling options (Mash, Taskin, Rubel, Soumya), with good variety of spinners that includes part-timers (Shak, Sunny - left arm orthodox, Riyad, Nasir - off spin, Sabbir - legbreak)

That is a long tail with Mash/Sunny/Rubel/Taskin. In all the matches our problem has been late order collapse and thus we need to cushion the lower orders.
From the people who went to game today, they said Mominul looked solid. He also got a 50+ in first game and then retired hurt. So I would keep him. They also said Anamul looked clueless and Sunny with his SLA would be useless in Aus conditions. So they will miss out.
So my ideal XI would be --
Tamim
Soumya
Mominul
Riyad
Shakib
Mushy
Nasir
Shabbir
Mash
Taskin
Rubel

Actually, even this looks fine to me....infact better. Because Riyad, Soumya, Sabbir can all be handy for bowling in one of the days....also Nasir and Mominul..so that's like 5 part-timers...don't know how the coach is thinking about this though..

I like it too...one q i have though...is height a cause for concern for Mominul on bouncy pitches? if he looked good then i'm all for having him in...he's too classy a batsman not to figure things out sooner rather than later...other concern i have is Sabbir...I'd keep him in for now but if he doesn't perform for couple of matches then I'd replace him with another solid bat

will pick mine after the last practice match....
From what it looks like.... we should be playing without any frontline spinner and 3 seamers. Hope Al Amin, Taskin and Rubel gets to bowl enough. Mash can/should bowl less or not bowl at all. We need him fit for the actual matches. Done with Anamul... Mominul still has a shot I reckon. was ever convinced of Soumya

This would be my squad also. But if shabbir doesn't make runs soon i would try anamul late down the order. Plus i would like to add al amin in place of one of taskin/rubel. They are both great but we need someone who can bowl well during death overs.

My ideal team would contain no specialist spinner. SLAs are waste of place. And as mufi said...I need Al Amin. He is our best death bowler. So I can go with all four pacers.

AlAmin will be a tricky one. He is our best death bowler but then again Mash and Rubel are confirmed pacers. Taskin has the X factor and AlFurqaan will kill someone if he is not selected.

By the way! I feel happy and proud to represent my country Nadim!

13 a side is always tricky. If you try to test your bench while batting then you leave out two of the bowlers that will bat in real situations.
Anamul and Mominul should get this last game to be sure we are putting up our best team. Mominul's 50 retired is a reminder for everyone. So my batting lineup would be if we bat first
Riayd and Mash brings the drink.
Tamim
Anamul
Sarkar
Mushi *
Shakib
Nasir
Shabbir
Arafat
Taskin
Rubel
While fielding second Tamim and Shakib sits, with Al Amin and Taijul replacing them. This is the optimum way of testing the bench strength in my opinion.
+++
The second option is just get your best 11 and play the Irish. Just Move Mushi up the order.

Wish Jubair was there..oh well
Playing 4 pacers will make our tail needlessly long. 3 should do.
Pakistan is good at playing spin. But Ireland may not be that comfortable playing Sunny Besides Sunny didn't do that bad against Aus XI. So I wouldn't drop Sunny for his dismal performance against Pakistan. We should pick our XI based on opponent's weakness and most likely Ireland won't find it easy playing Sunny

i would still pick anamul on his day he could hit century and since he was top run getter in u19 world cup in aussie condition , this would be the best combo for all world cup matches

There's no ideal XI in this 15... This is a confusing squad put together by the selectors. And coaches and captain will have tough time putting together a balanced XI. I don't expect them to get it right. Fans and armchair experts are always picking line up in this forum, and this is the most confused I've seen them.

Arafat and Taijul are both pretty short. Arafat more so. We should've picked spinners who could have utilised the bounce in these Aussie pitches. Saqlain Sajib and Mosharraf Hossain fit that bill.

Razzak's experience could have came in handy. I think it is a big blunder picking two rookie spinners who have no experience of Aus/NZ conditions. Might as well have picked Jubair to add a little variety.

No! No! Jubair is young! We wouldn't want to ruin him!
Love their explanation for not picking the leggie but they picked 2 SLA's against the same dumb reasoning. Gazi's absence will hurt us in the spin department, as well as tail order.
