Locked iPhone, pls help

Ok, so I have a locked iphone 4g 32 GB that was brought from Japan and is updated to the latest ios 5.1. It is locked but for some reason I can do everything else like surf the net with wifi, download apps etc without a problem. I only can't use my sim.

Now I'm not an iphone expert. i went to eastern plaza and they said the unlock for this variety hasn't arrived yet.

My question to all of you iphone experts is: is there any hope for me? Can I unlock my phone at all anytime soon?

Any news/info would be greatly appreciated.

P.S: Also apparently i can't use a turbo sim with it yet, whatever that means

Is it iPhone 4 or 4S? Also exactly what iOS system you using? Go to Settings>General>About>Version

You might have to change it to 6.15.00. I am going to PM the page with all the instructions. Remember this will jailbreak your phone and all the warranty will be voided. Beware of this risk.

Next step would be to unlock and that takes 2 minutes. After that you can use the phone to call/text and stuff like that. Let me know once jailbreak is complete and I will get you that instructions.

As far as I know, you can jailbreak anything below iOS 5 from jailbreakme.com (jailbreaking is legal, so I am allowed to give the link here).

So, one way to go would be to downgrade the iOS using iTune to below 5, and then use the jailbreak.

Now, keep in mind, jailbreaking is not exactly the same as unlocking the network, but it will get you toward there. I think the site has info about how to do that as well.

You can't unlock 4.12.01 now. You have to wait at least 3/4 months for that. Or may be more.

Unlock for 4.11.01 hasn't come out yet.

Was it factory unlocked before restoring?

This works with iPhone 3g and 3gs. It doesn't work with 4g/4s.

There is an option to install iPad baseband (6.15.00) while jailbreaking it.

Galaxy S2 >> iPhone 4, 4s, and 5. And it's REALLY cheap compared to those. These days you don't have to die for iPhones anymore. Other groups are starting to catch on.

You cannot unlock baseband 4.12.01 yet. Only tethered jailbreak is available for iOS 5.1. I am afraid you have to wait for another 3-4months to get the unlocking tools for baseband 4.12.01

Galaxy SII is much more sweeter than iPhone 4/4s.
