Cricinfo in same old role

Why cricinfo is always against BD cricket team. There are so many positive things to point out for BD. They won't do that but whenever there is anything to criticise they won't miss that chance. Andrew Miller in an article in the following link points out Gillespie's double ton as 'C for Chittagong'.

I agree, it was an amazing event, and will go down in history simply because it was so strange/funny.

Maybe in 50 years a Bangladeshi nightwatchman will score 200 against the ICC's newest full member, Burkina Faso, and will score a mention under "O for Ouagadougou" hehe

Com'on man leave it. But I have another observations (if wrong, please correct me). cricinfo selected the test team of the year Twelve from '06 and they described the team is selected based on the performance during the year 2006. Although there are few debatable selection like Flintof over Kalis, they did not do for ODI. What is the reason? Is it not to discuss about Bangladesh? Coz, in ODI of the year'06, they must talk (select) about Msh (the highest wicket taker), Razzak, S. Nafis and couldn't talk about their beloved englishmen as they are at the bottom in the ODI performance list.

I agree to not to make a huge deal out of this...but doesn't it strike you all that there is no recognizing of Mash's performance, or SN's? Recently there was an article on Prosper Utseya, and no one in FrickInfo can write something on best BD performers from 06?

What Gillespie did against Bangladesh is equivalent of a Bangladeshi bowler scoring a ODI 200 or a part time ODI bowler breaking the best ODI bowling record (against associates).

I don't disagree with them. Did I mention anything about that? What I tried to tell is if they can make highlights for other performers why they don't highlight some of our performers like Razzak, Mashrafee, S Nafees, M Rafique A Ahmed.

Don't you feel that these players of our team deserve to be in some positive articles regarding their performance?

Although I must admit that there isn't much recognition of the BD team at CricInfo, I'm not much worried about it. First of all, it's owned by Rediff, and most of its staff are from England and Australia (correct me if I'm wrong). And even a monkey should understand their problem...

You see recognition will come with performance. Once the players start performing consistently against the big teams the articles will start to flow. It is upto the players. I am fine with this. We the fans should not get carried away by our ODI performance in 2006. Yes we have improved leaps and bounds in the sense that we are now capable of consistently taking care of teams weaker than us. But we still have not proved ourselves in the big league with consistent wins. I hope 2007 will provide us with more opportunities to play against the big teams. Performing then would automatically get the attention of the world media.

I said it before- Gillespie's double century will taunt us for a long time, there is no way to avoid it. It was real stupid to make such a flat and lifeless wicket for a Test match.

Anyway, I am glad that Miller did not mention the ugly journalist beating that took place in Chittagong.

If you guys don't like cricinfo just don't visit that site!! CLEAR and SIMPLE.

Nothing wrong in that report. How many ODIs we won this year against stronger teams?

Our performance was not that good against the big guns. So there is no surprise that CI is not mentioning us. Same way we allowed J Gillespie to score an incredible 200 which is a laughing stock in world cricket. It's pathetic. Still CI mentioned:

Almost Famous: Can you drop history, like you can a World Cup? Ask Mashrafe Mortaza. Australia needed 24 runs to win the first Test against Bangladesh at Fatullah, but only had three wickets when Mortaza dropped Ricky Ponting, thus denying Test cricket its greatest upset. The skipper's hundred led them home but what a fantastic scare. Shahriar Nafees, who had bludgeoned an audacious 138 on the opening day (Bangladesh blasted 355 runs) and Mohammad Rafique, who took nine wickets, deserved better.

At Last some mentioneing of BD in a FreakInfo article:

Guess who's taken the most ODI wickets this year? Not Murali, not Ntini, not even Pollock but Mashrafe Mortaza. He had 49 wickets at 20.46 in 2006 and also set a new Bangladesh record for best-innings figures when he took 6 for 26 against Kenya. Abdur Razzak is third with 45 wickets and at 17.95 each. Among the other bowlers only Nathan Bracken and Brett Lee have taken more than 40 wickets in 2006.

Actually I wanted to write why they (freakinfo) selected only 'test team of 2006' and not 'odi team of 2006'. But I don't know whom I write!
