Exclamation Bashar set for selection role.

Quote:
The new selection committee is likely to be announced today after an executive committee meeting of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Former national captain Akram Khan, who was also a member in the last committee, seems the most likely candidate to become the new chief selector in the three-member committee which will replace the Rafiqul Alam-led committee.

BCB president AHM Mustafa Kamal met with some influential board directors yesterday to discuss the issue and they prepared a short list with Akram, Habibul Bashar, Minhajul Abedin, Selim Shahed and Khaled Mashud.

“Yes, board president met with some directors today to discuss the issue and prepare a short list from where the three-member committee will be picked after discussion about tomorrow's board meeting,” said BCB's media committee chairman Jalal Yunus after the meeting, without elaborating.

“Lot of names came to the discussion and finally we have agreed on a five-member short list and what I can assure you is that the final decision will be taken in tomorrow's board meeting,” he added.

The names of the two former skippers Akram and Bashar was all but confirmed although the question was raised about the latter's involvement with the banned and now defunct Indian Cricket League (ICL).

It was learnt that the board has yet to decide about who will be the third member in the selection panel. Former skipper and wicketkeeper batsman Mashud has little chance to get a nod as there has been a reservation against him on disciplinary grounds.

The board is going to form the new panel as they had decided in their last meeting to terminate the contract of the national selection committee led by Rafiqul Alam, whose tenure will finish at the end of this month.

In that meeting, the BCB president was given the responsibility of forming a five-member team comprising Board Members to select a new selection panel
Hoping for Akram + Bashar & Mashud combo

No more "chacha girri". I want Akram gone.

It should be Habibul Bashar, Minhajul Abedin, and Khaled Mashud. Experience is overrated.

Good to see Selim Shahed back into BCB's mind. This guy was a stylish batsman back in the days...

Minhazul was doing coaching so Selim Shahed might be the other person. I don't think Mashud would be a ideal choice as a selector.

Pilot is doing great job with Rajshahi boys. As most of you would agree. Rajshahi and surrounding has the highest number of cricketers outside Dhaka in DPL.

Don't think AK should be retained. Better to start afresh. HB for chief selector.

Not sure HB is a good choice. His defensive mentality could very well affect his judgement as selector. As someone pointed out, this means that Ashraful will play and fail until he's 50. Mashrafe will play when he's 50% fit and bowl at 115 kmh.

I don't like the idea of having a national selector who played for the national team just a few years ago. Bashar played with some of these guys in the national team, and in domestic cricket. His personal relationship with some of these guys might influence his decisions.

GREAT!!! Now Tamim becomes an automatic choice, thanks to Kamal and his embecile gang for letting Akram continue! One Hit Wonder to be continued! Eto din shuntam "Mamar Barir Abdar" akhon shunbo "Chachar Barir Abdar" everytime Tamim continues his mysterious form. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Nepotism just doesn't end with the BCB. Does it? Btw, anybody know what potential coaches we are looking at besides the Sub-Cont. coaches mentioned before? Thanks.

Isn't he kind of a coach/mentor for the Rajshahi team? I believe it's his guidance and dedication that has made Rajshahi a nearly unbeatable team in the domestic circuit.

Bashar will be a good selector.
