Michael Phelps , American swimmer who declared he would beat or equal Mark Spitz olympic record of 7 gold medals.
3 days into the games his attempt has been shattered by Ian Thorpe and the South African 100 metre relay team.
If only his mouth could swim for him.

I don't think Phelps proclaimed to win 7 gold. I don't remember reading anything where Phelps himself said any such thing. It's the media that did all that talking. Acker, have you seen it any report where Phelps himself claimed it? Source?
